Anime The ****ing worst news

4kids has liscensed the One Piece Anime..... I think Im going to be sick :bleed: . If your familiar with 4kids you know how they treated Shaman King, which was to say.. very bad. For the confirmation just check out the Anime News Network. One Piece deserves far better than this :anger2:

I guess... One Piece doesn't have too bad content. Well, if you don't count some of the things Sanji says when he's around Nami, and Zorro being cut up to near death several times(I bet they'll cut those parts out!) I hope they will release DVDs with the uncut version, but since they are 4kids I'm not too sure they will do that. Yay, I'm am teh so happy that it gort licesned by 4kids!!!!1

That and ciggarettes, rum, Mr.2, All of the gang get very bloody, gods(skypiea), And the fact that they will make it into a goofy kiddy version is what will be changed.

 

Don't forget the dub Pokemon voice actors! Zorro's voice is going to be done by the guy(or girl?) who does Ash's voice, or maybe Luffy will be.. *dies*

Edit: how are they going to do Smoker with no cigars???

Maybe they'll show Smoker and Sanji will say "hey, smoking is bad for you!" and they'll turn a whole episode into a huge lecture on how smoking is bad for you.

 

You know, I'm not even very familiar with One Piece, and this is still horrible news.

It's not so much the fact that 4Kids edits things that pisses me off - although it does irritate me, because their changes are so often stupid and unnecessary (token example: rice balls --> jelly donuts in Pokémon). What really gets to me is the fact that now, we might NEVER see a subtitled version of One Piece released.

4Kids seems to have ruined just about everything they've gotten their hands on. They persist in dumbing down or editing the hell out of their liscensed anime just to make it appeal to the broadest market. -_- I understand that they want to make money of these series, but it infuriates me that they choose not to provide an uncut alternative for the older fans. I'd have watched an uncut version of One Piece, even dubbed - but I won't be touching this. I don't want to have my opinion of the series completely ruined when I've barely got any familiarity with it.

It'll be sad if their release of One Piece ends up like Yu-Gi-Oh - where a series which does actually have some appeal gets ignored and maligned as a "stupid kiddie show" by older fans who might otherwise have enjoyed it. Let's hope that someone else will be able to release a subbed version in the future.

So... who's betting that they'll change the names? We might be hearing about Roronoa Billy soon enough. -_-;

Tony the moose:! Only talks in cute and heartwarming baby talk!
Nicole Robin: Will have an annoying British accent!

Red haired Shaggy! Bozo the clown! Captain Konrad! Mr. Creig! Al the sawshark!, Croco and his gang.... Croco Works! Benjamin the Hyena! And God Emmit! And what will Devil fruits be.... damn this :anger2:

 

*shrugs* I just won't watch that version. But, the good news is that funimation is making the DVDs for Shaman King, which 4kids also licensed:

So, hopefully Funimation will release the One Piece DVD's with the subbed/uncut version.

 

I don't like the fact that the masses ( boy Im tired of that word :dizzy2: ) are gonna run around talking about the splendor of Luffys "bad fruit". It just bothers me.

 

I never really read the one peice manga in Shonen Jump, so I wouldn't know about that, but I liked the way they did shamen king.
I dont mind 4kids much, but DIC, on the other hand, dont get me started...... :anger2: :anger2: :anger2: :anger2: :anger2: :anger2:

Off topic, but hey, an F-Zero Anime! Always was a fan of the games!

 

One piece is one of the longest and most popular manga titles. Even we swedes have offical translated versions of the manga.

And on F-zero, there's one. Currently fansubbing but not licensed yet.

 

Yeah, it's always a pain when a dub spawns a bunch of fans who'll argue with you over names, terms, events... Insisting that you must have your head up your a** because "nuh-uh, so-and-so never does that! i saw the whole TV series on (fill in network) so it iz true!!!1! And who is (fill in original name), wat r u talking about they are not in teh show!"

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind fans of edited dubs... I only mind the stupid ones who don't realize that they've been watching edited dubs, and want to argue facts with people who've seen the original versions.

I guess we'll just have to see how bad the One Piece dub is.
