(edit: eh I probably should have put this in your other post)

I voted for the Seven Samurai.

Although I really do like westerns, I'm a sucker for samurai movies. Both have been a big influence to me.
Kurosawa's movies have never let me down. Every one I've seen has been great and I still have a fair few to get through.

Rashomon was on TV again recently, had to watch it again.

I chose Seven Samurai because it's the original... Magnificent Seven was a good movie, don't get me wrong, but if someone made a new movie that was like Star Wars but in a setting I would still prefer Star Wars, ne?

Although the Magnificent Seven(the original) is one of the best westerns I've ever seen, I'm going to have to go with Seven Samurai. It's an epic, in scale and execution, and it's one of the best films I've ever seen. I'd say the only Kurosawa films that match it are Red Beard and Sanjuro.

Actualy if you didn't know, Star Wars is largely influenced by one of Kurosawa's other films, The Hidden Fortress. Some of the influences can be easily seen in it(you can easily tell the characters who are to become the droids).

I heard about that in .hack, but I didn't know if it was true.
I always just said SW was based on WW2. Yoda even quotes Winston Churchill.
