Has anyone ever wondered what the point of FLCL is? It bothers me that lots of people say "Oh, it's entirely pointless but it's fun." That is NOT true. Watch the whole series and there's no way you can tell me it doesn't have a meaning to it all. You must really not being attention here- it's obvously about growing up. You may think differently, but that's what I look at it like. It has a lot to do with Naota maturing from a kid, and has some of the aspects of childhood. Of course, the rest of the story is entertainment, but if you think hard about the way ta-kun acts and what happens to him, you'll relize something. It's like the world of adults and children thrown together and the poor guy is jumbled in between. There's a fine line. In many ways he's immature, and yet so grown up. Confusing isn't it?
    Just a thought... whadda think?

Sure, you CAN delve into the meaning, but it's better to just take it a face value. It's a lot more fun, and more people will understand you...If you do that, the meaning would be: It's possible to make darn good anime while under the influence of multiple drugs.

that is what growing up is all about finding the meaning to life....but not every thing in life you will find a meaning to...you know what I mean? So.....I guess FLCL is just about finding the answer to the things you always wanted ansewers too....even thou Ta-kun never got many answers....

I know I may get flamed for this but I didn't see any meaning. I watched it twice in two days and all I saw was guitars, vespas, guns, robots and EYEBROWS:D :D :D

Who remembers the South Park parody with those eyebrows.:)

Yasuko, I think you have it. It is about growing up, and how kids are the future. Listen to the lyrics to Little Busters for example.

(little busters is one of the songs by The Pillows in the series. All lyrics of their songs that I have are posted in a sticky at the top of the music forum)

I beleive it has to do with the growing up and maturity theme with a totally funkalicious storyline and plot twist. It reminds me of the 70's

A lot of synopses talk about the themes of growing up, immaturity VS maturity, acting one's age, etc. So yes, FLCL does have a deeper meaning. Anyone who says FLCL doesn't have any meaning probably can't find the meaning to other MEANINGFUL stories/movies like The Matrix (which has LOTS of philosophy built in).
