I havent seen Eva yet,but I have read most of the graphic novels.I was thinking about getting the "Death and Rebirth"movie on DVD.Is that a good place for a newbie to the series to start?

Errr....I would watch the series first...or at least the last...six episodes. If you just want a wierd mind trip...just watch the "movie". You'll probably end up wondering why Shinji is much more of a wimp if you read the graphic novels and go into the movie.

Well, given the divergence of storyline between the graphic novels and the anime, and also given the fact that Death is really meant to remind people of and reinterpret some major things in the tv series, I wouldn't recommend jumping from where the graphic novels are now straight into Death and Rebirth. Just like Izzy says. My personal thought is that the second half of the series is the most important, but there is some set-up in the first half, as well as reference to a few things here and there that are returned to in the End.

Like Izzy says, the manga Shinji is not the same as the anime Shinji. And even if you've read all of Volume 7, there's probably still a few volumes to go before Sadamoto reaches the End.

edit: If you know Lain, then think of Death as being about like Infornography. It's a real blender of a recap.

Just a question, but why are they selling Air and My Pure Heart for You separately from Death and Rebirth? If people had to sit through that on theathers...why don't we get the same treatment and get it on one disc?! Blasphemy!

I should just buy the subbed Hong Kong one...blah...but knowing me, I'll buy it anyway...
