    The Olympics starts tommorow!

So, tell us what countries you are rooting for, and which events you are watching. And also, If you were to be in the Olympics, which event would you do?

China of course! But sure, Swedes are pretty good in track & field. But China gets my vote :)

Well, I am a former Badminton player, used to play in the high leagues and entering in different competitions and winning them too, so Badminton will be my sport in Olympics, if I didn't had that damn knee injury that forced me to quit :p. But anyways, Badminton, Table Tennis and prehaps the swimming will be watched.

Oh and...China's got the first gold of the tournament baby ;) 4 Golds, 2 silver, 1 bronze. Go!

    Go USA!!!

If I were in the Olympics I would want to be in gymnastics(if I was good at it).
It looks like a lot of fun but dangerous.

3 days as past and here are the top 5 countries in terms of Gold medals and total medals.

    1st: CHINA: 10 Gold/4 Silver/1 Bronze = 15 in total

    2nd: AUSTRALIA: 6 Gold/2 Silver/4 Bronze = 12 in total

    3rd: JAPAN: 4 Gold/1 Silver/1 Bronze = 6 in total

    4th: USA: 3 Gold/4 Silver/5 Bronze = 12 in total

    5th: FRANCE: 2 Gold/2 Silver/3 Bronze = 7 in total

Well, good stuff from China, ahead in both Gold medal numbers and total medals. Medals coming from Weight Lifting (2 Golds), Diving (3 Golds), and Shooting (3 Golds). Judo and Swimming each get 1. Female gunman Du Li earns China the first Gold.

Aussie's Ian Thorpe gets 2 golds in Swimming 200m and 400m. USA's 3 golds are from Swimming including 1 from their newest sensation Michael Phelps. Japan 3 Golds coming from Judo.

I don't really root for any countries, other than enjoying watching the games. I love watching the volleyball (both indoor and beach), track, basketball, gynmastics, and a lot of the more traditional sports.

Of course, MOST of the competitions are fun to watch.

If I were to participate in one of my choice, it'd be a hard toss-up between track and either of the volleyball events. Oh, and basketball too.

I would rout for Ireland, but there's not many irish in the games, i think.
I'll probably be watching a lot of swimming cause i used to be a awimmer myself (though only as a hobbie, nothing else). I'll also watch some of the other games if i find the time.
If there was a sport that i could take part in, in the olympics then that would be swimming again.

I was totally rooting for Puerto Rico in their game against the USA. XD My favorite gymnastics team, though, for both women's and men's, is team USA. In general, though, I just like to watch. I'll watch pretty much anything (*glares at Bravo for airing movies instead of FENCING OMG*). I love diving, track and field, volleyball, swimming, and gymnastics the most.

    If I could compete in any event, it'd be... all of the aforementioned. XD Synchronized diving looks so cool, and so does gymnastics. I'm not too bad at volleyball (I have ze killer bump, haha). I just... get tired really easy. ^^;

The Olympics took a turn today when America took first spot in the medals table. USA's 5 golds earned today thanks to 4 swimming events won by Michael Phelps x2, Amanda Beard and Aaron Piersol, plus another in the gymnastics individual women's all-round won by Carly Patterson puts them in the driving seat after earlier doubts of their performance. Now with 14 golds, the US equal China in terms of gold but beats them by 6 medals in total. Making 35 medals for US and 29 for China... Japan (9 golds) and Australia (7 golds) still hang in there with 3rd and 4th respectively.

So, looking good for America and as for China... keep up that pace.

I thought Michael Phelps got four medal's  . Anyway i was watching him swim the 200m freestyle and i have to say that he's a really good swimmer. I'm really impressed the way that he even managed to break his own record, that would really inspire any althlete, to know that you've pushed your self beyond your best.
Unfortunatly Ireland aren't doing so good, however one of our four men rowing teams managed to get into the finals, so there a chance tha we be able to get at least one medal, with any luck.

Most certainly, I am rooting for the USA.

Of all the events, Gymnastics and Track & Field have always been my favorites to watch. In gymnastics, I can watch rather remarkable feats of human coordination, strength and flexiblity. During Track& Field, the reports and commotion from the TV are accompanied by random facts and insites from my dad who was a Track star in HS.

Let's see, in the Olympics the only event that I actually train for in real life is Cycling. So that will have to do.

It's going to the max now.

China and USA are topping the table, and with surprise, Japan, in third place. Now there are only some days left untill the Olympics are over...goe China!

Oh and, for 100 m hurdles women, I believe it's gonna be a re-run. The french runner dragged down the russian runner so...

Four golds, but I believe, 8 overall (?). Sorry, I've been working a lot, so my Olympic stats isn't up to par.

Anyway, May and Walsh won gold in Beach Volleyball!! Man, that last point was the best way to end the Olympics too! A hard serve that was barely bumped by May, and Walsh blocking a errant set to spike it back down Brazil's side. GREAT stuff.

As the Olympics draw to a close on Sunday the table remains how it was a few days ago with USA leading with 29 golds China close behind with 27, Russia and Australia both with 17 golds at 3rd and 4th place respectively. Japan at 5th with 15 golds.

All very exciting and I must say that Japan and Great Britain are two countries which have performed exceptionally well in this time's Olympics. Especially GBR's Amir Khan, boy wonder in boxing. China won 2 golds on the track, very unlikely, winning in 10,000m women's and 110m hurdles.

Ireland finally got a gold meddle yesterday in the showjumping :D, so at least we won't go back empty handed.

The womens volleyball finals has to be one of the greatest volleyball matches I've seen.

Total Russian domination from the beginning, winning 2 sets, and almost winning the third, when the chinese women totally outplayed them! Great game! Great team!

It's finally over... Another four years to wait, but next time at Beijing... Really looking forward to that. Been pondering what singers China will stage on for the opening and closing ceremonies.

I heard something ridiculous happened during the men's running? A drunk Irish priest grabbed the lead runner from Brazil and it took him a few moments to gather himself again and he made it to Bronze instead of Gold. Anyone see this?

I didn't hear about that, Ser.

You know, I was really surprised at the gold medal count. I guess we can't all win 20 some medals, but I was hoping my country of origin could win more. There are a few events that I think we should have won.

All in all though, I'm looking forward to the next Olympics, it's true.
