The legendary indie rockers The Pixies have set aside their differences to go on tour starting April, possibly to be followed by a new album! Gotta see a show.. it's almost as exciting for me as it would be if The Pillows were to play somewhere close by..

This band, formed in 1986 had an influence that lasted a lot longer than their time together. Known for everything from being the Beach Boys on acid, to being the band Kurt Cobain ripped off (he said as much :D ), this is a band you should check out.

The MTV article that made me sooo happy First cool thing of the new year..

    nope sorry, no numetal here

I mention other bands because I lack the vocabulary to describe them otherwise. Despite that, they have a sound of their own that can't be described by throwing band names around. But feel free to write them off because I dropped the names of a couple bands you've decided are uncool.

Nonetheless, if you know what I like (The Pillows, Noodles, Weezer, Nirvana etc) you should have a good idea whether the Pixies would appeal to you.

If they don't, this thread is not for you. *sticks tongue out*

    Curb your enthusiasm :p

I should have headed this thread: "rumour has it." Very convincing rumours though. The latest word from Frank Black (the former Black Francis (born Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV)) is this:

yeah. Well, there's hope :) Not unlike the hope fans had when Valve promised that Half Life 2 would be out on the 30th of September lol. Serisouly, I retain hope. All the rumours said April, we should know soon enough.

    Yeaahh it really is happening!

Check out the Website of the Coachella music festival - notice the second act listed. Must make it to California..

Bit more info and background here.

And just to be sure, here's a link to the website of Frank Black (the former(?) Black Francis) with press release, tour dates etc. Seems there will be a tour leading up to Coachella, which will be their last date in North America before heading over to Europe. Boise here I come.

The Eagles made hell freeze over, now pigs have flown.

Chejo, if you can try to find a copy of their CD 'doolittle'. it happens to be their very best. They remind me a little bit of the pillows, only in english.

There's definately some influence there, which would be why the Pillows named one of their songs after the Pixies' bassist :D (Kim Deal)

And who else thinks the beginning of track 8 from Penalty Life could totally be from a Pixies song? (the rest of the song not quite as much, but the beginning is startling)

Pixies tour sells out. Sells out, as in all the tickets are gone :(
Four shows in London with a total of 19,000 seats sold out in 2 hours.. Amazing. They don't have an album out right now.. no radio stations hyping them.. Their legend has certainly grown in their absence lol

There's still Coachella, and rumours that they will play Lollapalooza (yay?). Guess I have to trek down to California instead of a quick jaunt over to Boise as I wasn't one of the lucky few to get tickets in that rather narrow 5 minute window hehe

    LOL
