I guess we all know what happened to one of the worlds powerful strikers, Chelski's Adrian Mutu. He's been tested positive for drugs, and Chelski has sacked him. It's sad to see a player like him go to waste.

Post your thoughts and opinions about this case. Remember, this aint the first time Chelski's dealing with "drug" players. Mark Bosnich, Ex. Man Utd goalie was tested positive too, and got sacked.

Hmm, well, players who do drugs bring these things upon themselves, although it is sad.

I guess if he was so great, why would he need drugs?

However, I do feel that one instance of drugs does not show conclusively he has been using them.

Mutu admitted that he did not take drugs to aid his footballing, but more on improving his 'sex' life. And yes, he is a shame to watch such a young (25 years old) and talented player end up like this but he brought it on himself. I must say that Chelski did not do him any favours... they simply disregarded him and took this oppurtunity to bin him after his decline in form and row with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

Rumours suggest that Chelsea have signed Barzilian youngster Robinho from Santos who will initially play 2 years in Portugal before moving to Stamford Bridge. This way they can give him some European football as well as wait for his work permit to go through.

This kind of stuff happens in every sports. And they all do it for different reasons. ( some being with the pressure and stress) They just have to turn to it. But like Naruto said....they bring that among themselves.

Yeah, but I still feel it's pretty low for a great time like "Chelski" not standing up for him, and helping him out of his addiction. It's just showing that the board don't give a **** about the players.

    Very low of Chelski.

I believe there is no need to be standing up for someone in this situation. They are all adults there and hopefully know of the consequences of an action, especially one like in this situation. At least thats what I believe....

But still, a club has to help their players in different situations, not just sacking them and say to themselves "alright, problem solved"

They probably do help them in different situations (excluding this one). But also there are alot of players here in the world with talent...they could easily find someone else. Its just the way things are here. You can't screw up like this and expect to get off easily.

i agree its harsh, but its also one of the fairer things that managers have done. i mean i wouldn't expect a club to stand by a player who's been labeled a drug cheat. i doesn't look good for the club. i think that the 'drug' restrictions have got out of hand in sports though. it's not like taking most (or any) drugs is going to help you score goals... its all pretty stupid really.

Yeah, well, people do crazy things when they are depressed, considering how Chelski has bought tones of players into the club. Kezman, Drogba...you name it.

Anyhow, the FA banned him for 7 months.

Though banned for 7 months, Romanian head coach offered him an assistant manager job for his national side while serving his ban which of course only applies on-field, and not off-field as training personels.

He was handed a lifeline... and despite what he has done, I'm glad he admitted to the drug scandal and is now actively working in the footballing world in a different role. Hopefully we will see the new Mutu again in a year's time.
