    Is it a good series? I only have the ADV trailer from one of my Princess Nine DVDs, and the music would be my only REAL reason for ordering it... ^^; (What!? It's a good song!! ^^)

    So...-- without spoilers, please! -- would you please tell me why you would recommend this series?

    ^^ Thank you!

    Parodies... plain and simple.. if you like mecha/space anime, this has comedy about nearly all of them.
    I'm planning on getting this boxset myself

    Yes, you must go and buy it now!! we all must, it is a great series and one of my faves ;) If you like Mecha it's kind of like half Macross and half Love Hina...

    I don't mean to force you, but I love this show.

    Yes, king of parodies of other anime. Hehe...I love Megumi...if only for the fact that her character portrays Megumi Hayashibara. Look at her bio or her background stories...she's a seiyuu, a famous one that did a BUNCH of anime characters. LOL. And I think Ruri herself makes each episode worth watching.

    It's a good thing to get box set. Get and enjoy. *YUM*

    What about plot-wise? (I haven't seen Macross OR Love Hina, so...yeah. ^^)

    Is the plot really cool, does it have twists, is it interesting, is it more than just funny...?

    ...because I'm assuming this is the set I saw at Gamestop...if it wasn't, I'll have to think on my feet about what to get. ^^;...

    Thanks SO MUCH, all!

    Plotwise, yes, its good, and it has a strong enough story on its own to carry through when you're clueless about a parody.

    Actually, it has VERY much its own plot. A nice one, with a grand enough twist that you don't even need parodies when it comes right down to it. I LOVE the plot. Just about as much as I enjoyed the movie, which I immensely did.

    For a show that had a ton of parodies I was surprised to see such a deep story.

    I havent seen the movie yet though....:sweat:

    I haven't seen any mecha shows except Gundam. Am I really going to find this funny? Also, I heard the animation looked bad with wierd rainbow things on the screen appearing at random.

    Not to sound too insulting, I really don't mean offence, but here goes...

    Are you saying it has a good plot like people say Dragonball Z has a good plot, which it doesn't?

    I've heard the hype, but is it justified? Like again Dragonball Z turning out to be absolute rubbish, or watching Gundam 08th MS TEAM after Wing and finding out the latter didn't desrve so much hype?

    Sorry if I've completely crapped on anyone's taste, I'm just trying to save myself from a disaastrous purchase.:(

    Yes. It is good.

    yes, it deserves the hype.

    Some jokes you *may* misattribute if all you've seen is Gundam but you'll still laugh. You're going to lose a small number of references too, although this leans more towards voice actors, certain features of the ship/mecha and such. BUT ITS STILL GOOD.

    As for the rainbow things, you probably mean rainbowing. I've never experienced that with my DVD. What rainbowing is when theres a quick shift on the screen from a black line to a white line and a little rainbow is in part of that space. Once again, I havent noticed that on my dvds.

    The animation is *not* bad. Its *extremely* good.

    As for plot...

    DBZ = Fight. Fight. Fight.
    Nadesico = Mecha. Romance. Comedy.

    Nadesico = Cream of the crop.
    DBZ = Crap of the field mice in that crop.

    Nadesico's little parodies, like Neph said, is more based on the little similarities of the voice actors. That includes who they're portraying, or who they're acting like from another anime.

    It has enough Evangelion references to be funny. I guess it has some Gundam in it too, but I'm not a heavy gundamner. ;) Like I previously posted, the characters are what makes the show, rather than the fighting or visual effects. Megumi is the win...just because of who she's "parodizing". Akito's funny too, and if you've watched Evangelion...well...*I* couldn't help but laugh.

    I didn't really like the character design though. I admit that it's well off, but I still didn't like it. Well, as much as Yurika goes. She looks...really stupid, I think. Either that or the artists don't have much luck with the long-haired and banged look.

    Story is good. I haven't finished the actual series, but the movie got me hooked, if only because it points to facts that it gets pretty deep in the later episodes. Amen.
