what does time hold for the future? they say that time is only an idea in the minds of humans, and animals(in some sense). does that mean if there were no humans or animals, then there wouldn't be time? :dizzy2:

Well no, time would exist. Just, nobody would percieve it. However time (that is, our perception) is... more malleable then some might expect. Observe relativity effects.

This is a ‘if a tree fell down in the forest, and nothing was there, would it still make noise’ question. And since I’m in a mood to completely confuse myself I’ll answer. Oh joy. xp

Ah. Now to get into technicalities! Time holds nothing for us in this ‘future’ of which you speak. To say so would imply that time moves, which it doesn’t. I won’t go into details, but basically time doesn’t move through us, we move through it. Thusly: we hold the future in own two grimy hands. Comforting, non?

Yes, time would still be there without humans or animals(which, imo, are the same thing). It is not dependent on living things for it's existence. I suppose, for a poor example, would be that if you left a room, would everything just stop? Not hardly. Dust would still accumulate, the food under your bed would continue to rot, and the pile of clothes in the corner of your room will continue to smell. To take it even further, what would happen to the room if you took everything out of it? Would it cease to be? Well, think of the room as time. It doesn't really interact with anything, but it's still there; it's constant. It's the place where everything happens...

Time is a very freaky thing. It takes life and it gives life. It tires us and it strengthens us. It hurts us and it heals us.

Without us it would definetly still exist as it still has in the past I believe. Maybe we won't know about it (because we are not there) but it will still go on.
The question is...Will time ever end?
