Transformers Timeline...

Ok, I used to know a fair bit about Transformers when I was younger, but that was years ago now and I've forgotten most of it. Last year I found out you could get episodes on DVD so I started buying them. Now it's coming back to me in bits and pieces and reading here and blown a few cobwebs off the old memory too. I am a bit confused regarding the way things are going though.
Ok, from what I can make out, the original series had the following episodes:

More Than Meets The Eye 1 - 3
Transport To Oblivion
Roll For It
Divide And Conquer
Fire In The Sky
SOS Dinobots
Fire On The Mountain
War Of The Dinobots
The Ultimate Doom 1 - 3
Countdown To Extinction
A Plague Of Insecticons
Heavy Metal War

I think I have most of these if not all spread across 3 dvds.
Transformers Original Series Volumes 1-3

So, where does Transformers Takara fit into all this, also Armada (which I havent seen afaik it has never been shown in Europe, at least not on terestrial (sp?) television.
Now from what I can see Generation 2, is just a crappy version of the original with a few computery cut scenes put into it.

Where does the movie fit in? Also I just got Transformers The Rebirth - Parts 1-3 on DVD. From what I can see this certainly comes after the film. And I'm waiting on Transformers: Five Faces Of Darkness - Parts 1-5 to arrive. Again I've no idea where this fits in.

And then there is Beast Wars yet another saga in the Transformers universe. I have Beast Wars Vol. 1 ordered too. I dunno if there is a Vol. 2, but the fact is I cant really remember anything from Beast Wars and some of the Decepticons in The Rebirth I could have sworn were in BW. Maybe they were or maybe I'm just confused. I certainly remember the toys.

That's another thing. I think my memories of the toys have muddled up things in my mind too. I really am rusty when it comes to this Transformers lark.
Anyway, I've been rambling on for far too long now. From what I can see, you guys really know your stuff. A bit of enlightment would be very much appreciated.

 

It happens like this. Generation 1 and Beast Wars and Beast Machines are in the same universe. Armada and Robots In Disguise are each in their own timeline.

That makes the easiest to follow timeline, but for a real treat, read the comics, which are much more grown-up (despite a couple false starts at the beginning, like a TF-Spiderman crossover)

 

Can you get season 2 on DVD?
From what I can see The Rebirth and Five Faces of Darkness are from season 3.

 

Season 2's on DVD. They just released those other episodes separately cuz they're really special ones

 

Here's what I currently have on DVD.
Absent Beast Wars Vol. 1 and Five Faces Of Darkness (awaiting the delivery of both).

 

I have Beast Wars vol. 1. There's no special stuff on it.

 

Transformers Generation 1:

Season 1 - 16 episodes - Story of transformers and the story when they crash landed on earth in the 'ARK' and their attempt to get back to Cybertron whilst trying to kill each other Original transformers only such as Ironhide, Wheeljack, Starcream, Thundercraker

Season 2 - 49 episodes - Story on earth and on Cybertron and their attempt to kill each other, more new characters such as the arielbots, constructicons, protectabots and stunticons

Transformers the movie - Unicron the planet eater (Unicron is the stem of how Cybertron was created and how the autobots and decepticons wre made and became enemies - read some sites if you want to know more), attack of autobot city (later remade by blaster as METROPLEX - the giant autobot defense unit) and the introduction of the new transformers such as Kup, Hot rod, Blurr, Cyclonus, Galvatron.

Season 3 - 30 episdoes - Story of the new leader Rodimus Prime (Ex-Hot Rod) and the Quintessons attempt to destroy both autobots and decepticons.

Last ever generation 1 episode was 'Return of optimus Prime'

'beast wars' and 'beast machines' takes place during the time when the autobot and decepticons crashed landed on earth and laid dormant for 4 million years, (a time filler)

Transformers RID - Don't have much details about this but i've seen some episodes and it's based around G1 season 1 and 2

Transformers Armada - No links with any G1 episodes and to be honest its pretty damn S**T, waste of an opputunity to make it a great cartoon.

This should be enough info on all transformers episdoes, btw there is any transformers series which is the japanese version. I think it's based after 'Rebirth' because the headmasters are the main characters (Chromedome, Brainstorm, Hardhead, Highbrow etc) All the characters are in there, Optimus Prime, Hot rod, Springer, Arielbots, Metroplex, Kup, Dinotbots etc, they also have a new bunch called the 'trainbots' Some transformers have different designs and colour, some with different names and all have different voices which can put people off.

 

Yeah Takara is the Japanese version, and the voices really do put you off.
They are crap tbh.

49 episodes in Season 2 that's an awful lot. Also explains why the Season 2 DVD is only half the season.

Five faces of darkness is in generation 1 season 3, its about the qunitessons attempt to eliminate the autobot and the decepticons, which in fact are their own creations....if you wanna kno more ask me.

The decepticons you see in rebirth are not the beast wars ones.
The reptile, primitive like transformers are...The TERRORCONS, 5 robot team - BLOT, RIPPERSNAPPER, CUTTHROAT, SINNERTWIN AND HUNN-GRR. Togther they form ABOMINUS gestalt. The other decepticon primitives which became headmsaters are MINDWIPE, SKULLCRUNCHER, WEIRDWOLF, APEFACE AND SNAP DRAGON.
