Recreation To all those that hate anime...

This isn't what you might think.

After looking through several threads on the subject, (I've linked to some of them), I decided to ask everyone a question.

If you met one of these people, from these articles, who say that anime is immoral, or evil, or perverted, and needs to be banned, what would you say to them?

Remember, your objective is not to kill them, or injure them in some way. You're trying to explain to them why anime shouldn't be banned.

What would you tell them?

 

Hm...Well, I dont hate it, I dont love it. So i wouldnt bash them, or agree with them. Just say, " That's your opinion, foo'."

 

Well the first is a parody (look at the authors email), so I'd shake their hand over the good laugh.

As for the other one, well, if they chose not to like anime to that extent, that IS their choice, and argument is futile anyway because these sorts of people have always existed. However in return I would seduce their hot daughter(s) into a seedy world of pre-marital sex, French cuisine and evolutionary science.

 

I like to debate against them. It's fun and I get better at my debating skills. I'm not sure what I would say to them though. But I might end up getting flamed. Usually, I like to keep my cool, use words that they don't understand, and leave them confused when I'm done debating. ^_^. Flame wars are fun if you know how to deal with them....

It's an anime sucks forum. There has been some anime fans that created topics flaming the board members. There are some quotes that I find really odd....

I think, if these people are serious, the admins over there are going to delete my post. If that happens, I've got it saved, so I can copy/paste it here.

 

I don't think they're serious, but I seriously don't understand why you feel the need to sway their opinion... not like they're coming over here and posting a long winded essay about why we shouldn't feel the way we fee- OH WAIT

Anyway, how many people say "I don't like american animation/comedy/movies/whatever" and it's acceptable?

I find the second link to be quite humorous, and feel that, the way they phrased everything, they should direct their hate and fear more towards commercialism and marketing strategies than Pokemon, or anime in general for that matter.

 

If you look again, I did say I'm not trying to change their opinion. I wanted to see how strongly they felt, and to understand why. If you look through their forum, not ONE of them has given a good reason to hate anime. Besides, I wanted to see how well that thing would work.

Meh, after that piece, I'm ready to leave 'em alone. I think I'll just watch to see how they respond for a bit.

[EDIT]Besides, look at the difference between mine and luvweaver's posts, and theirs. Any stranger who looks in there will see that, and judge...

 

But why do you care? Give me one good reason to care about what they think. If anything I'd say their number one reason for hating anime is because it provokes anime fanatics to scream in rage. and try to convince them elsewise.

Edit: Looks to me like it's only semi-serious to begin with... regardless, some people just hate something because they are incapable of liking it... like how some people cannot stand a movie if it has cheap sets.

 

Curiosity. I want to understand these people. To understand how they can hate so much as to say something like this:

Why do I want to understand them? Well, that's where curiosity comes in...

If that's so, then they're getting their laughs. Unfiortunately, some people have posted there, and even joined, with the sole purpose of raging at them. I tried to put myself above all that, and simply post what I want them to think about, and to try and show them the light of reason, to no avail, it seems.

I am thinking the whole thing was started as a hoax, but it looks large enough now, to be serious. Perhaps a few of the members are joking about the whole thing, but there looks to be a number of people who are serious, too.[/EDIT]

I must say, if they are serious, I feel nothing for them but pity. No anger, no rage, only pity.

 

But isn't anime immoral, evil, perverted?

The first one is really a joke, as the second one should be too. Or perhaps I don't know real fanatism which is the only thing that can write stuff like that. What would I say to the authors of these articles? Probably I'd do the same as Nephilim. But with people who really thinks like this, I'd just tell them that they're 'right'. I don't know, they're just too much blind.

EDIT: Shouldn't licor be banned? violent videogames? books? and much more things? Or, with a similar situation, shouldn't Bush get out of the presidence of th US? This is just another Never End.

 

Yeah, but that's exactly what they want. Admittedly, I found a few of the comments amusing- others were simply irritating. They're almost certainly not serious, it's just the same 'humerous' scenario over and over - noobie signs up, gets uber annoyed and voices their opinion about how members of 'Anime Sucks' simply have not yet seen the true greatness of anime, members come out with the same exaggerated opinion using flowery words and sharp wit, or so they think anyways. They might not feel as strongly as they say they do, they just get a kick out of saying it and watching people react. They don't care, neither should we.

 

Well for people who joke around about hating anime pffff whatever it doesnt really matter but as for the people who seriously hate anime....ive stopped trying to show them the light. if theyre going out of their way to try to bring down anime then obveously theyre not gunna listen to anyone who tries to tell them otherwise. they probably just wanna have someone explode at them anyway for kicks. i had an art teacher who hated anime so hardcore and we'd always debate about if it was really art or not. this went on for the whole year and finally i just shrugged my shoulders and walked away because it was so futile. people have their own opinions and if they choose to hate anime...well theyre missing out but thats their problem.

 

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And if they won't listen, then thats too bad for them. I dont hate my older brothers for not watching FMA or anyhting. If they dont want to watch then they shouldn't just waste my time on needless talk.

And I've also had people at my school try to sway me away from anime. For me, Its useless. You can't change people at will, and you certainly can't change me.

Last of all, yes, there are those who hate anime. But that's because they dont even know it. If you were to show them a preety good anime, they would probably like it. If not, dont try to show 'em anymore. If they dont like it....oh well.

After reading all of that...you are my hero. But to get really serious now. I mean this is why we have forums containing different topics. I dont believe that there is reason to go to a forum about anime and talk badly about anime. Or go to a forum about hating anime and talk good about it. Sure, there is always that 1% of people who would do something like that though. So I would just say, delete that persons post,thread or whatever and lets move on.

I find "DougGoneMAD" quite odd. I found him in a anime forum flaming other board members and now he wants Shinryu to get off his message board? Funny.

 

It shouldnt be banned because many people like it , and its their right to watch it, and i'm sure that there are more people in the world who like anime then those who hate it.

And thats all you would have to say...I mean I doubt they would have a good reason for hating it. I wouldnt mind if they said that they didnt care about it but hating it? I mean how can you hate it? A good reason has yet to come...lol

 

Feena, I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I've looked through the whole site, and it seems like the same story over and over again. N00b joins, rages at them for being stupid, they laugh and rididule. Lather, rinse, repeat. I think the best thing is to ignore them.

Forum invasions? Eh. Never found them... 'good' unless it was against, say, racist organizations (yes I've participated in forum invasions against said groups).
