Okay, there has been banter back and forth in this forum about what's on most SM fans' minds...how the heck do I get myself a copy of J to X? Basically, I've seen argument back and forth about it being released or not...

Well, after a bit of digging around, I found out exactly what I had originally thought (reworded from the Anime News Service):

August 26, 2000 - at the CNAnime convention, Bandai Entertainment announced that they would be releasing Saber Marionette J on DVD in 2001, with J Again following, and J to X after that...Saber Marionette R DVD was stationed on standby at that time.

SO bottom line: Don't shell out your $600 (or $1200) for the Raw eps just yet....You'll need to save that much to get all the DVDs...

    BakaMattSu, done his 'spiel' now...

    sorry, don't remember the url

Of course, a dub would have certain drawbacks...

Thought I'd give my 2 mon on this issue.

First of all,on Bandai's "Release Dates" section it notes that SMJ to X will be Bilingual when SMJ,and apparently J Again as well, have been Trilingual releases. The question is,will Japanese be one of the two languages? I'd hate to buy the DVD only to find out that I can only watch it in English or Spanish (or French, for that matter). Lime just isn't the same without Megumi-chan voicing her.

Secondly, also from the info in the "Release Dates" section,it says that only eps 1-5 will be available on volume 1. This seems to suggest that Bandai will be doing J to X on a six DVD release schedule,as they did with Cowboy Bebop.

InuYasha - hopes that Bandai will be kind enough to do a J to X box set,the way they did with Cowboy Bebop.

As far as me personally, I couldn't wait long enough for all of Bebop to come out to finally wait for a box set that ended up being the same price as all 6 separately dvd volumes put together. As far as Smj>X goes, a box for them is cool, but can anyone wait long enough knowing its at the store without buying it, just knowing hey, waiting a year and a half or two is worth it cuz I'll be getting a box... sorry for the rant. I loved it when I got the box set of Lodoss Tv Chronicles cuz it came as a box set. Didn't need to wait for the 2nd, the 3rd, the 4rth, then a boxed edition.

BMS, I'm sure you've been waiting way too long and are going to atttack sellers right when Vol. 1 comes out.

I good thing though about SMJ>x is that I have 1-10 subbed, so I know I can park it until the 3rd volume release. but no more after that one.

Usually Dual Language means its going to be English dubbed and Japanese-with or without subtitles. So I don't think you need to worry about not hearing Megumi's voice. Its the original language, meaning it should stay as a choice.

    [ANGRY-WAITING-GONNA-SNAP-AT-ANY-MOMENT-TAG]
    Attack the sellers?

Heck, I wish I could go straight for the subbers!

I mean, it's great to pick up a license on a show to commercially bring the stuff to the public... but to go and grab the stuff...then lock it up for almost 3 years without releasing it is just downright mean!!

Think of it this way...J to X has been around since its television debut in '98... Fansubbers picked it up, and began doing their wonderful stuff up to the 15th episode, when WHAM! Bandai picks up the rights. Like the honest fanworkers they are, they shut down production and distribution right there - as they should, to not interfere on Bandai's rights...

...but then Bandai turns around and leaves it to rot for a year or so...driving me nuts!

Having seen up to 10 already (and the possibility of up to 15), by the time BEnt gets around to where the fansubbers pick up (whihc will be 2003), I'll have commited suicide out of pure ranting!

    Thank you!

BakaMattSu, note there is no closing tag...that is sadly, intentional...

Saaa, ya'll just waited until I left before you began discussing things again, huh?

What an interesting thread... April 23rd, eh? I'll mark my calender (and yeah I'm buying the official releases of SMJ to X, too. Ain't I a sucker? Not really, though. My subs are pretty bad...)

Seraphim, I wouldn't worry about the DVD being just English and Spanish (French? Swahili?) I've never heard of Bandai or any other American distributor doing this before and I highly doubt this will be the case with the J to X dub.

    Eldaeriam, welcome to the boards ^______^. Yes there is a dub of J and J Again, although both are put out by different companies. The dub of J can, as far as I know, only be found on the J DVDs. For you and Mamiya see the SMJ Dubbed? thread in this forum for more information and the URL to the Twisted Fate's Fandub that may never have been o_O;;

Baka, I feel your pain re: stupid subbers. I barely managed to get all of Utena via a fansubber before Central Park Media picked up the rights to eps. 14-23. It's a year later and they're still sitting on it and pissing me off. Grrr...

Well, I think that's all I have to say, although I am tempted to go out and grab that J Again DVD the minute I get home.

And knowing Bandai,if they did decide to do a box set for J to X,it probably won't come out until 2010.:(

InuYasha - hopes that he can find the J Again DVDs offline...
