Recently LOTs of new mangas have been licensed there. Aside from Planet Ladder, I'm looking forward to collecting Gravitation (love the anime!) :D

Tokyo pop is really great but sometimes their editing or translation is a bit sloppy. they sometimes screw up the speech bubbles and sometimes you can tell where they had to erase the japanese phrase to replace it with the english. Also the size of their font in some of the speech bubbles are so wacked. When someone is suppose to be saying something really loud, they have the words in the tiniest font and the speech bubble is huge! But im glad that they are at least printing them the original way...reading from right to left instead of the normal english way, left to right. also that they are releasing new mangas.:)
But it must be crazy at the translating shop :dizzy2: !or whatever its called.

Well, I trust that they won't screw it up too bad. It's better than Viz, I think. The prices are cheaper, and the books are right to left =D They probably won't look TOO bad. I'm happy that they licensed it ^^

They're doing Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou too! They just released the first volume (which I stormed the store for, and bought) this past week. I suggest everyone check this out, or I will destroy you. With a spork and some yogurt. And, I really think that Tokyopop does a decent job, better than some. Absolutely middle ground, to be honest. I'm just glad that they're releasing so much, so more people can see the diversity in anime/manga. :D

I heard something about Tokyopop screwing up Initial D somehow... -.- just a little worried, yeah... they're alright, they're not that bad, but I'm still worried as to how these two (Gravi and FAKE) will come out...

:D Kare Kano is great, yeah ^^

I can't wait! :D Gonna have to hide the yummy yaoi from my parents though...and my 3 sisters...and my brother...ch' that's gonna be hard.

They're releasing Kare Kano? Fukin' eh. I really want that manga, I thought I'd have to try and find it on the net. The ending of the anime is really unnacceptable. I just hope it makes it to this country.

I cant resist asking HOW here Izzy :D

im half way through collecting the Love Hina series. damn its quite a few volumes... maybe then, or if i rob a bank, ill be able to afford any of this new wave.

as a side note - i think tokyopop does a pretty good job, as far as accomodating for those who cant read japanese. they are a lil sloppy from time to time, but not often on any grammar points, so they can be let off.

as Sachiko said - better. than. Viz. :)

Well, to kill with a spork and yogurt would require some skill in the dark arts known as clownery. After that, you don't want to know as it will turn your eyeballs into a sticky, goey substance known as melted candy. NYUM.

I think that any manga company is gonna mess up sometime. You can't have exact translations as that is very hard to do. This is much the same reasons why dubs suck, other than the fact most voice actors sound like they don't try hard, is that some of the mannerisms found in nihongo isn't found or cannot be reproduced in english.

Yeah, Kare Kano is great as an anime, and is thus far very similar to each other in the manga. Tokyopop did a commendable job, although, it'd be nice to explain some of the side-panels, as they seem to pop up out of nowhere.

Thin Yume: that's Celf-sama, ne? I love Celf-sama! Yes Tokyo pop bring out a lot of manga. they have released a lot of new manga and are coming out with even more. if you go to their website you can see all the new titles they are coming out with. It's amazing!I asked them recently, by e-mail, to translate fruits basket but i haven't gotton a yes or no just a "i'll suggest it to them." and that person has. i hope they will say yet cuz the manga is suppose to be awesome. i just hope they don't screw up the speech bubbles too much cuz the art is amazing! but i put full trust in tokyo pop. i'd die if it weren't for them! I bought 5 new mangas today at the mall!! heehee! one of them was for free! it was a "buy four get the fifth for free" so i did! i bought planet ladder 5, angelic layer 5, marmalade boy 5, wish 2 and 3. heehee i still haven't finished reading them. i also bought a chinses shirt at forever 21. its a clothing store for teens. great prices and great clothes!

I hear yah buddy. I just bought this manga set and am kind of regretting it. Sure, I love the new set, but money for gas is pretty thin (and forget about food, or buying anything new or used  ).

My favorite Tokyopop manga is Magic Knight Rayearth. I read the whole first manga series. It is my favorite manga. My second favorite is Oh My Goddess! but Dark Horse does that.
