  1. Spotted a seemingly overpriced picture postcard of the Toshiba-IHI
    Pavilion at Expo '70 -- though I guess since I've not seen very many
    pictures of it postard or not it probably is slightly rare. This is
    where I'm near certain this is the place where Tomita composed a special
    hi-fi multichannel presentation on tape for. It was in Osaka at the time
    that a friend found him a copy of "Switched On Bach" which changed his
    view about what synthesizers are good for.

    At least part of the pop-orchestral piece for the pavilion is still in
    print on a compilation CD of otherwise early 70s 'new folk' pop "Tea and
    Soft Rock" (TOCT-10787), the other music is a let down because similar
    music isn't hard to find reissued, I would have gone nuts if it was all
    pavilion and world's fair related music as the cover suggests it might
    be. I've heard some of Akira (Godzilla) Ifukube's music for another
    pavilion which was quite interesting.
