Hi I'm a new member to this group, although I've been a Tomita fan since the
    70s

I've got some info & questions following on from John's excellent site.

    Info
    1) I have the CDs of Mighty Jack, Unbalance, Captain Ultra (including
    the postcards), & Catastrophe 1999. Unfortunately I haven't got a scanner to
scan the images and send them in for the website yet, but when I do get a
scanner, do you want them John?

    2) I have a Japanese friend who is translating all the track listings
for the Japan only Tomita CDs. John do you want this info too, when I get
    it?

    3) I believe that The Planets is out on DVD. I'm investigating and will
    report back

    Questions
    1) Does anyone know where I can get copies of "Misty Kid Of Wind" and
"The First Emperor" from on CD?

    2) How different is the 1998 Gakko I-III different from the original
    one?

    3) Has anyone got details of the two expensive releases from 1999.Both
appear to be Osamu Tezuka soundtracks: -
    Jungle Taitei Leo (4CD set)
Ribon No Kishi (this is a track on Shin-Nihon-Kikou, but
appears to be a separate release casting approx $145)

If anyone can help me on these, I'd be grateful.

I tried ordering that from Mundo; they told me it was out-of-print and took
it off their web site. If anyone knows where to get it, PLEASE let me know!

    1) It most certainly is. Verified! :)

    2) As far as the scans, please can those pictures in when you can.
    That would be great!

    3) Does anyone know where scans for Tomita's "sound creature" can be
obtained? I just got the album, but the booklet is not there!! :(
    Can someone help?

    Best,

    Kevin

this old post got bounced (I think) by an accident on my part

remember there are 2 versions of Catastrophe 1999 with content from
different sources. Theres the OST as was released in 1974 (coupled with
a non-tomita score on CD and all in 2 long stereo suites VICL-5080) and
the newer released CD of the raw film cues in mono plus the stereo
    single VPCD-81173

search under "First Emperor" they have it in their shop

Misty Kid of wind is long out of print so you have to find one used,
    good luck.

well the original one only has music off the first Gakko movie and is
    under 19
minutes long. Its not really synth music though. (unlike "First
Emperor", which is more Tomita related than actual Tomita since he is
credited only as "musical supervisor", but is done predominantly with
synths and samplers along with live singing) the I-III is just that
    music of all 3.
Its kind of sentimental like much Japanese TV drama music. Its a good
thing he does more historical or adventurous music pretty often. But you
probably get little of this here

This was recalled from stores for legal reasons but exists since it did
get to store shelves for a while. I saw it in late 1999 but didn't buy
    it due to
cost and not knowing it was going to be withdrawn. As for rarity... since
Tomita apparently didn't want it to be released it depends weither you
want to follow his wishes or own something rare. No synthesizer of
    course its from the 1960s.

    > Ribon No Kishi (this is a track on Shin-Nihon-Kikou, but

I heard on this list that this one was announced but never got to stores?

I believe both original soundtracks are still out as poorer quality 1 CD
releases for years. There is a Toshiba series of CDs of vintage cartoon
music with one disc per cartoon, sold and released separately.

Why you aren't seeing them on your CD database
searches is because Tomita's name is not listed on the covers, only
Tezuka's name and the show name. Tomita's name is inside on the booklets

I've found some rarely heard Tomita themes on many compilations of old
TV themes. One from the late 60s, I forget the name, has a female singer
and his trademark super deep flanger/phaser whoosh that I'd bet everyone
    here would imediately recognize.

Obviously any CD of Tezuka's best themes will have a couple by Tomita.
I've asked before but got no answer. Anyone have a full list of his
Tezuka scores? I've seen books with all his anime and their credits but
didn't have the time or nerve to stand there and go through every page
    and write them down.

So anyone have his new-ish famous baseball player soundtrack? Any synth playing?
