Actually, that's the exact opposite of what I said.
"Not to say they don't have any musical ability." --> Note the first word of that sentence. The word "not" implies that the statement to follow is negative, not positive.

Those are all off of Lateralus, and their other stuff sound a lot different, like Aenima, Undertow, and Opiate(the songs).

    Maynard is awesome.

By the way, anyone read his interview with Kurt Loder on MTV.com? The guy is hilarious. He was even friends with Layne Staley from Alice in Chains. Oh yeah, he also makes fun of Courtney Love.

    Read it.Now

What can i say the mans a genius....i have never seen a band with better lyrics such as tool. Not only are there hilarious songs like AEnima you also have those very depressing songs such as sober.
As for perfect circle, they are an awsome band 2. Weak and powerless is just awsome.

Well, I hate MTV, Headbanger's Ball doesn't even have much good music on it, but I love Layne Staley. And I hate Courtney Love.

If I was homosexual, I would love this man.

    OK, that was retarded.

The only thing that i hate about tools music is when they have like an 8 or 9 minute song for example Eulogy. Out of those two minutes its like a constant sound. one time i was listening to eulogy (i was very sleepy) i feel asleep just before it got to the lyrics lol. but its not that much of a dissapointment cuz thier music and lyrics back it up.

Eulogy is one of my favourite Tool songs, actually :)

I quite like longer songs, but it annoys me when bands have ten or fifteen minute silences after the last album tracks.

Or the stuff that's obviously filler (Message to Harry Manback, for example).

    Eulogy rocks, though. :p

faaip de oiiad was the best closer to an album ever, freaks anyone who is really listening to it out.. especially when you figure out the lyrics.

Tool is influenced by King Crimson a lot. King Crimson likes to build tension in their songs using the same riff over and over for several minutes. Tool takes the same direction sometimes. It isn't meant to be boring it is supposed to make the actual "song" more powerful. I love both bands and I wish I could have caught them on tour.

Tool are incredibly complex, lyrically and musically. Danny Carey is one of the best drummers out today. The song "Lateralus" is genius. The lyrics begining with "Black then white are all I see in my infancy.... reaching out to me." Are in the Fibonacci sequence I heard. Plus the whole "Spiral out...keep going" section is phenomenal.

I use Darklyrics for all my lyrics. It's just more fun to figure them out on your own ^^.
