Don't you just HATE tracers. I mean, they have no true artistic talent and most of them don't even admit it. Now tracing isn't all that bad-for some it's a great way to learn to draw a certian character-but a lot of these people don't even know what they're drawing. And I know several tracers. One guy in my 4th/5th period (name still unmentioned) STEALS (yes steals-I only give my work to frinds and people who pay) my work, traces it, calls it his "original art", and THEN has the nerve to try to sell it to others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger: :anger:
And, to make things even worse (if it's actually possible), he's one of those 'fakers'. You know, somebody who thinks he's an expert in everything, including anime and art. He's always going on about some anime-related or other nonsense. He doesn't have the slightest clue what he's talking about! (quote-"You messed up. Inuyasha's hair is gray, not off-white. Even I could draw better than that!" Notice everything he said is completely untrue) And he keeps following me for some odd, stupid reason. Making the stupidest comments about some tiny flaw in my art and then mentioning something about his 'art', and likening himself to some kind of perfect, anime/art god! NOBODY draws perfect (except for Ashley, for some odd reason-I'm serious. I keep checking her artbooks for any type of unintended thing. Maybe one line not connecting to another when it should, or wrong eye color. Her art is truly perfect. And she was born with this ability and required no training or practice to perfect her skills. I have been drawing for years and am still nowhere near her level-even after my skills have increased literally hundreds of times!). At least the other tracers have the decency to request a copy of my work. I know small children much more mature and skilled than him!
    _________
I had (and still have) a lot more to say, but I'm so angry I cant remember now. Until then, anybody else facing a similar situation?

Note:I'm only reffering to the people I know. I don't intend to make a flame war. Tracing really is a good way to learn-I admit I've done it before.

Note to those admin peoples:please don't ban me. This isn't mean't to be flame bait-just expressing my current conditions. Besides, if I got banned, how would I get my art online? Ashley's is already online. That means I'm losing.

woah! :dizzy2: . take it easy. ^_^. it seems you've got a bit of a problem... you're only in high school though right?.
no matter how good you can trace, you can never produce something as good as the original. besides, when you leave school, they wont be able to trace your stuff, and they wont be able to draw their own... in the mean time why not just take it as a compliment that they think your stuffs that hot?. sure it must be annoying now, but it wont go on forever.
*can we see some of your stuff?*

You could do things to keep the guy from tracing/copying your stuff. If you change your style so that it's too intricate to trace, or make it too light to trace, or simply do it with no lines, just pure hardcore shading--he won't touch it. Also, if he's selling your stuff in his name, you SHOULD report him! And finally, don't worry too much. Keep in mind that as long as you keep practicing, in the future your newer artworks will be much better than the stuff he stole from you.

Well, actually middle schol. But this is my last year. Maybe he won't be in any of my classes then.Never thought of that before.I could draw in pencil like Ashley. And besides, I still draw better than he ever will.

What he's doing is illegal. It's called 'Plagerisum'

Basically what he's doing is taking your idea an tring to sell it as his own without giving you any credit. You can report him cause it's a very serious crime.

In college here if somebody commits pagerisum then the project is regected, we are brought before a disaplinary commity were if decided we can be kicked out of college and on top of that the law can be brought in.

So as you can see his a*s is now in you hands (not litrally though).

I guess i would like if someone thinks my art is good enough to copy and sale it. So i would be happy first, then mad and would kick his sorry assXDD

Just talk to him, if he continues, then just, i dont know, do something evil to him XD

Yeah, like Kain said, the guy is committing plagiarism. How does the guy steal your work anyway? Does he have access to your drawings or does he steal your images from a website?

i'm (finally) back! he has access through school. <ignor my lack of caps-i'm eating pizza with one hand and typing with the other-i dont wan to have to hit shift more than possible> He is only in my 4th/5th period, and i don't let him near anywhere near my stuff, but he steals some when i have to leave the room. is that really illegal? I thoght that was only for copyrighted stuff. i'm drawing di gi charat now. arent they SO cute!? and things are getting better now. 4 people are buying my art now instead of 1. and all i did was get a binder for my best drawings. people just ask me whats in there and they all want to buy some. at this rate, i could have $70 for my trip to that spacey center thing

"he steals some when i have to leave the room. is that really illegal?"

Hmm, last time i checked the law book, stealing indeed was illegal.
Anyhow, give us a peek at your art. If you tell people are paying you from your drawings, im sure people here will soon crawl on the walls if you don't give us something to drool on ;)

Welcome aboard btw, seeing that you are pretty new here.

    'Pagerisum'

i believe the word is plagerism.

You should report him to the administration, and then, if you have a cool art teacher (like mine) ask them to do something. (i.e. flunk him)

Actually, anytime anyone draws something original, it is automatically copyrighted. (You don't have to fill out any paper work or anything...it's automatic.) Some artist's like to write "Copyright 2004 by so-and-so" under their art, but it's not required. (It's just a reminder for other people that the artwork is original and belongs to the person whose name comes after the "Copyright 2004."

If the guy steals your stuff right from your binder/backpack... you gotta tell on him! Go right up to him and demand it back (have a weapon in your hand as well if you wanna get nuts).

Or at least a link. <Don't laugh-this will be an earlier drawing as I haven't got around to scanning my newer ones. I think I'll do that in a few minutes. Mylong overdue homework an wait a few more days.>
The colors are messed up because my scanner hates me...NNo!It says it's too big.Ishall return
with one of my newer things. If'its not colored, dont yell.

3 steps closer to Ashley's defeat!

Hehe. It's working. I sold him a drawing of mine, and, you guessed it! The next day he comes back with an identical copy of 'his own' except in pencil. I think he tried to make the tracing unnoticeable but its still obvious. He just 'added on' to make it look wierd. Said he was making fun of Cardcaptor Sakura. I made him think it was that to see how he would act. And it's really bad (comparatively). I convinced him to let me borrow it(said I was scanning it to post it online-yeah right!)so as soon as I scan and save it, I have evidence. I'll tried to put his 'artwork' in my post tommorow morning. Unfortunatly, I forgot to copyright the one I sold to him, but all I have to do is draw something new, copyright it, and sellit to him and I know he'll trace it. All the while, keeping copies on my computer as evidence. When all pieces fall into place, I will confront him. The threat alone should be enogh, as I don't plan to actually take it to court because of the inconvenences. But, knowing him, he will just look around to see if head that he traced, call me a liar and a tracer, and run away like a child. That's why somebody needs to give me a link to the site with that law as proof for him.
Yes, it's an intricate plan, but I am rather good at such strategies. Sueing him could also give me the money I owe my mom($115).

quite frankly, I am confused as well. I didn't know the thread had continued on.. just to keep it short, could we see more art work? what does this Card Captor Sakura pic look like? the first two attachements you had, I'm confused. are they yours or the guy who copied your work??

Yeah, it's confusing. The earlier 3 were my work(I made Sonic all pixelly). This one is his. I don't have the orgininal, as I sold it him without making another copy first (STUPID!). When I draw another you can compare to the original.
I still think his tracings are bad compared to Ashley's and Kevin's skills(even I draw better than that).

:anime: And I got more art supplies and it's my birthday and I want a woodburning kit-art sells for more when its in wood! :anime:
