First and foremost what you'll need is a good microphone but you won't be judged based on the sound quality, but on your musical talent.

Secondly, you need a good program to record your voice. If any of you know of a good recording program then feel free to share with everyone how to use it, or link to an online tutorial.

My favourite at the moment is Audacity; it's free, open source, and rather easy to use. You can find it at this website: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Once you install it make sure your mic is connected and just press the red recording circle button and start singin' your stuff.

If you aren't done your recording yet, and want to work on it later you can do this by going to File->Save Project As, give it a name and press okay. When you're done you can save your song as a wav file, but waves are usually really large and it would be hard to upload it for people to listen to.

If you want to save your song project as an MP3, you have to get lame_enc.dll, which you can find Here. Save it to your desktop and unzip lame_enc.dll into C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins. When you're in Audacity now you can open up your project, go to File->Export as MP3 and you're good to go.

You can also get the tutorial and FAQ for the program here - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/
