Do you guys ever go to gamespot.com and read the gamespotting reports or whatever you want to call them. Well I went and read Jeff Gertsmann's and he summed up what I was trying to say in my last few PS2 vs XBOX vs Cube posts.

So with that said, which system maker do you think will die first? I am going to go on a whim and say Nintendo though.

I think all three are going to be around.Even if one of them starts fading they will just bring out a new system,Sony is planning to bring out PS3 in 2005,and Xbox announced that it will have Xbox 2 out sometime around 2005-2006.Nintendo will most likely put a new system into development in the near future, and probably have that out around 2006.None of them will give up.

Finally someone has posted something on this thread. Well thank you for posting Kaneda. But I am going to have to disagree with you and bring up some points why.

Well I am not really sure which one will die first, but I know it will not be Sony. So that leaves Nintendo and Microsoft. I think we can all benefit from just having two systems instead of three. Who really wants to buy three systems to play all the different exclusive games. Don't you think it would also be nice to see Zelda and Mario or Halo on a Sony system, i know i would. Also all Nintedno and Microsift have to do is make a failure system, like the ones you mentioned that are coming out in 2005-2006, and than they will be gone from making systems. It would just be like how Sega died. they made another system after another and were failures. Yea all three of them right now are doing pretty good, but wait until the next systems come out and see which one will drop from the race first.

wooohooo Sony has killed both Nintendo and Sega. This is so great. Long Live Sony. Well actually Nintendo and Sony killed Sega and than Microsoft and Sony killed Nintendo. I think Nintendo should have died before Sega though. If Nintendo only would have made a CD based system instead of the cartridge based Nintendo64 they would not be in this situation.

    a quote from Kaneda's link:
It would really suck if Nintendo did decide not to make games anymore. I was hoping to see Mario and Zelda on a Sony or/and Microsoft system.

No, the article is saying they're concentrating on making games for the consoles and maximizing the consoles lifespan instead of pumping millions into creating a new one, which is rough for Nintendo since Sony has, what, a full year advance on them?

It says *nothing* regarding making games for other consoles (it mentions *competing* with other consoles).

For all we know they'll still make consoles, just not for a good long while.

We could only pronounce Nintendo 'dead' if it said "we wont support our consoles, we will instead make games for all consoles", thus making all Nintendo consoles dead ones. But as it stands, the two current Nintendo consoles stand to get livelier and livelier, since they'll be doing more work with 3rd party developers.

Now, as for *future* consoles, thats unforeseeable.

That is what I meant Neph. In the future when PS3 and Microsft's next system comes out Nintendo will be dead. Sorry if it looked like I implied it is dead right now. I meant it will soon be dead. And that I wanted to see not the next Zelda game (which is called Wind Waker or something like that), but the one after that on a Sony or/and Microsoft System.
Well I re-read it and it noticed somethings. It looks like they are going tp try and have the Gamecube compete with the PS3 and next microsoft system. Well I dunno if that will last even a year or two, esp if they will not work with online gaming. But it did say thay are not going make another system. They are concentrating on games. At least for right now. I guess they could come out with another system, but it will not be anytime soon. It will probably not happen until 2010 or later. Than again it could not happen at all, which is what I am hoping for.

No, they will work with online gaming (as there is already a modem unit and an online RPG), but it will not be the *focus* of Nintendo.

And never doubt a systems longevity. The original NES survived a decade, even when 16-bit systems were top of the line, or even beginning to move out. Why? Game quality. Its true that quality games began to dry up near the end of the NES's life, but it still went for a full decade of profit.

Now, it is too hard to compete in the hardware business with a 1:1 strategy, especially since Sony has all the hardware it needs in-house, and Microsoft can pump out new consoles rather regularly before it begins to become too pricey.

I think what Nintendo has plans for is possibly a new console every once in a while (7-10 years) instead of every 3-5 years.

Nintendo has had rough times in its past. It'll come through again.

We *do* know their strategy is to pump out lots of software, including 3rd party stuff. It'll be more like the old days of the NES and original Gameboy, where *tons* of stuff came out (as opposed to the tail end of SNES and all the N64 days, were it tended to be quality over quantity).
