  1. an interesting magazine item I can't read or afford right now.

I saw the current issue of Vanda magazine. Its a record collector
magazine focusing on short articles and discographies of selected
artists, If it was am azingly detailed I would have picked it up for
refrence. There wasn't but still, there were a bunch of album covers,
though reproduced small and in b&w that seemed interesting.

The current issue had a Soundtracks of Isao Tomita piece, but I couldn't
read it and it wasn't long enough to buy just for refrence, though the
listing itself was the longest I've run into, it also mentioned it was
part II, so I found the prior issue on the shelf. Oddly it had a 6/01
date I think, so that must mean its a once a year magazine? What a long
wait for a "part two" of an article! Anyway in that other issue there
was the part 1 and there were all these odd sountracks I've never seen.
The one that takes the cake was what looked like a theme song single,
and I'm not an expert on the show but it sure looked like the cover
still was the 1960s TV show "Lassie". Now as I recall the Lassie theme
was by Les Baxter for the U.S. so I'd make a guess that Tomita worked
on the theme for the japanese broadcast?? I'm just guessing.

As an aside, but reminded by that article, anyone know the name of the
60s spacey TV series that ends in " something something 008"? The theme
to that is great in that it has that monster flange/filtersweep sound
like he used in the 70s.
