Yasuhiro Naitou was a starwars fan, and I think it shows in a few ways in TRIGUN its not huge but see what you think, you know?

    Okay

This blonde haired blue eyed guy who lives on a 2 sunned desrt planet where nothing grows unless its through hydroponics, finds a cause worth fighting for and trains diligently with a special silver weapon day after day. During his life does the following:
Gets his hand removed by an evil family member
Gets a bionic replacement for it
Befriends a really old guy with a big wrinkly forehead.
Befriends a shoot-first-ask-questions-later type guy with an affinity for black and ill fitting loose collared white shirts, who can still kick @$$ when blind. This person is frequently accompanied by a huge, strong, honest, good hearted individual that occasionally thinks with thier stomach.

This discription, though a little vague is applicable to both Vash the stampede and Luke Skywalker. Think about it wont you?

I have a comparisson for Trigun and Inu Yasha too. If ya wanna hear it, just tell me.

Wolfwood's comparison of TRIGUN to starwars is completely brilliant --- pity that starwars is such bum floss though!

    *cracks knuckles*

Theres this guy who's into lots of billowy red and yellow near the eyes thing, he wears funky jewellery that serves more than one purpose, and though he never truely fits in with humans or his species he still fights for what he feels is right with his powerful transforming weapon. Though he seems loud and out going he has a deeply thoughtful, sensitive and torured side. The first person to really notice this, is a black clad travelling holy man that this guys isn't too keen on when they first meet. The holy man is mostly soft spoken but doesn't mess about when he does get angry, he uses totems of his religion to hide his weaponry, isn't always as holy as he seems, has a higher kill count than the main character (in spite of being only human) and has he a real thing for tall strong girl with a great appreciation for family and the big heavy weapon on her back, he too wears a happy face but cant help but feel that he is a doomed man some times.
Added to the main characters problems is his evil, human hating brother who carries a similar weapon and has a nicer voice than him, that said they dont seem ALL bad and may even be redeemable. The brothers servant remains loyal and humble regardless of how sh*ttily he gets treated.
Another of the main characters' problems is caused by a very good looking, smooth talking guy with a thing for billowy white and 'hn hn hn' style nose laughter, this guy keeps recruiting all sorts of nasties and heavies with different super powers with the intention of icing the main character. In the end the main character beats them one way or another though.
While the smiley but deadly dangerous holy man likes the tall strong girl, the main character seems to prefer his girls on the petite, emotional and mini skirt wearing side ( in spite of the main characters strenghth, this girl can always knock him down). Added to his affection is that this girl is a reincarnation of a girl he loved that died along time ago and still haunts him.

    Its Inu-Yasha and Trigun. SENKYU!!!

Do it Bloodberry! It's true, it's all true, and Inuyasha is a great series too, Takahashi's best yet. There are good fansubs available over the internet from Hong Kong. It's really not that hard to get hold of. Well, so I'm told. PAnda gets hold of it all for me.

I've noticed another thing. Legato and Naraku, as well as both having the billowing white thing in common also have a sort of 'dead primate face' theme too. Naraku has the skinned baboon face and Legato has a human skull on his sleeve.

I think Wolfwood's comparison is pure genius.

    Ookini mina.
I have another weaker comparisson for Ranma and Trigun, but it pales in comparisson to my mecha mecha kakkoi inu yasha comparisson. I've got an even smaller one for Harry potter and trigun. Am I single minded? What am I talking about? I talk about Hellsing too...

Now that I think about it....yellow sunnies, black and silver guns, red coat, violent preist....aaah nevermind.

No one here really knows about Hellsing anyway....

wow... ya I agree with the Trigun one, but I haven't seen inu yasha so I don't know. But the trigun one that never hit me before. Even the point of the whole thing is the same. Kill the evil family member. WEIRD!

Awww... I was kinda hoping they were both redeemable. I cherish the thought that underneath all that fratricidal behaviour Knives and Sesshoumaru just wanna be loved.
