I have not got the game yet, seeing as it is not even in stores yet. Will be later today though. But I just thought that this game, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, is a must buy game and that it needs a thread here. I just got done watching a 15 min video review of it at gamespot.com The game looks and sounds way better than GTA3. In the game you will be able to fly a helicopter (yes you actually get to control the helicopter), drive an assortment of cars, motorcycles, and boats (more motorcyles and boats than you think), blow up buildings, buy buildings, go inside buildings (only a lucky few), and so much more. Well I just wanted to get anyone else's thoughts on this game, probably will be more in the upcoming weeks after everyone has got the game, but oh well.:)

It's freakin' Miami Vice!!! Well, okay, you're probably the bad dude (I haven't read much of it so I wouldn't know) but still!!! They got those tropic/hawaiian shirts, and they even had the speedboat scene!!! *sigh* I'm in love!

I have my pros and cons about it.

    Pro:

-You can destroy vehicles with melee weapons (Brass Knuckles, Bats, Batons, etc...)
    -Motorcycles and Mopeds
    -Over 40 weapons, 'nuff said
    -Undercover cops

    Cons:

-It's set in the eighties, I hate the eighties.
    -Music sucks
    -Peds have no cash
-Missions gives you almost no money
    -The cars suck
-Undercover cops have advance weapons (ak's) and they appear when there is 2 stars.
-No gangs, or they're too spread out
-Cops run over you (and kill you) at 2 stars

I have only played the game for about 5 hours, but it is in my opinion that this game is a bit weaker then GTA3, and harder then GTA3. So overall I think GTA3 is still superior to this game, now only if this game was set in the same time period as GTA3, I would have looked at it better, of course I could just be prejudice because the time period the game is set in.

Not trying to sound rude here, but I think it is just that. I stiil have not got the game and do not prefer the 1980's either, but I also do not mind it. I do not mind the scenery and music cus that is what I grew uo with. Well at least from 0 to 7 years old, if that counts. I am juat appreciative that they have real music this time, do not care if is 80's music.
Also what makes Vice City more better is that you can jump from moving vehicles, above stuff I already said (in my first post on this thread), and your character talks and has emotions. I know I should not judge since I have not even played Vice City yet, but it just looks and sounds way better. Well just my opinion.
BTW, c0ke, I have a friend who loves the 80's and all things 80's. He wishes it was 1980 forever. I think it would be funny to lock you and my friend into a room and see what happens. :D

Well I guess I was being a bit harsh when I said the eighties suck. How can I forget that some of the greatest horror movies came out in the eighties. (Hellraiser, The Thing, Return of the Living Dead) I have a couple of favorite songs that appeared in the 80's but it seems that the 80's was a time of big ugly hair, and stupid rock music that can't compete with the classics.

And How can I forget that, jumping out of a car while still in motion, whats kind of stupid about that is once I was being chased by several cops and I jumped of my vehicle, only to have another police car crush me.

And as for your friend, I'm always looking for a good, fight, but if he likes the 80's that's his humble opinion and I won't force anyone to change their opinion, as they say, his is own.

Of course if he has a problem with that ask him this:

How many street fights were you in? I was in about 30 of them in my life, if he been in more then me, then I'm no match for him.

I was not really talking about fighting each other, just maybe seeing what happens. I dunno, probably was a stupid comit (do not even talk to this friend anymore really). I thought it might be funny, do not mind me, alot of stuff I say is stupid.
That is funny, you get ran over as you jump out of the moving vehicle.:D You come back anyway, there is no game over screen is there? Half the fun is seeing how many ways you can kill yourself, isn't it?
Just wondering did you buy that game or rent it? if you bought it, is it really that lousy of a game to you that you are already thinking about trading it in? Just curious.

I finally rented this game and it is freakin' awesome. I can see why people bought the soundtrack. It has oldies that you thought you would never hear in a video game. I am not sure what the songs are called or who they are since some of ti was probably out before I was born. But sure do rememeber from my parents listening to it. I just want to sit down and listen to the music for awhie.
Also I got in a car and let the driver back in and he was driving me for awhile which was really cool. Well I better start doing the mission so I can get some money and farther in the game.
Anybody else have any new thoughts on this game?

THEY'RE NOT OLDIES!!!! THEY'RE CLASSICS!!!! lol
I found that the most interesting part of this game was Burt Renolds the Big Boss. Yes, Burt himself. He's not _called_ Burt, but you know it's him. Also, I like the fact that you could buy Houses and bars and such, and the "entertainment" purchases will gradually give you money. Also, you can buy your own gang to pretect your domocile. And if it's the domocile on Starfish Island (Or whatever...I don't remember exactly...:p) You can keep your helicopter there. Its bloody wanktastic, tbh. :D
