I have drawn this picture a little while back. I don't like the face, but the rest I though was fairly good, for just coming up in my head and then drawing it like so.

 

you're right, the face is a little weird/ out of proportion, but I've always thought that its hard to create a likeness of someone, especially off the top of your head. But the rest of it is really nice! I really like his hair and his boots, bueno!

 

He's recognizable at least. It's a good attempt from what you say, and I think the hair and cape are the nicest parts.
