    !! WARNING !!
    Possible spoilers ahead. ^_^

[Note: The following list was taken from http://www.escaflowneonline.com. ^_^]

    - Escaflowne was originally going to be 39 episodes long, but was cut by 13 episodes in pre-production. That resulted in the 'rushed' feel of the latter half of the series and why it has no filler episodes.

    - Escaflowne was originally going to be a traditional mecha shounen (for boys) style anime, but in order to attract girls to the series, they decided to make the main character a girl. This caused a snowball affect which resulted in all the 'bishounen'(attractive men) in the series, and effectively turning it into a mecha shoujo(for girls) type show.

    - Hitomi originally had long hair and glasses, but was changed in pre-production to the short haired athletic girl we all know.

    - Zaibach's 'Alseides' and 'Oreides' Guymelefs come from the book Hermaphrodite, where they were types of nymphs.

    - As famous as the song 'Dance of Curse' is, its only played 3 times in the entire series, when we first see Escaflowne in action, when it first transforms into a dragon, and when Van and Allen battle in the final episode.

-Despite its butchering of the soundtrack, the FOX/YTV version of Escaflowne actually used a track from the soundtrack never used in the original, entitled Illusion (from the 3rd OST)

-In the subtitled version of Escaflowne, Hitomi's friends have the exact same voices suprisingly enough. Amano and Allen share the same voice, as do Yukari and Millerna. Unfortunately the dub decided to only stay consistant with the males, using different actresses for Yukari and Millerna.

-FOX watched a grand total of four episodes of Escaflowne before purchasing the TV license for it. We all know how that ended up.

-Most of the lyrical songs used in the series, including 'Promises Not Necessary', 'Tomodachi', 'Aoi Hitomi', 'Hikari No Nake E' and 'The Day the Wind Blows' were sung by Maya Sakamoto, who did the voice for Hitomi.

-Only two songs from the series were not released on any of the official soundtracks. The first is the theme played when the Zaibach Sorcerors study Escaflowne in episode 18. The other is the faster paced version of 'Ask the Owl' when we meet Dryden in episode 14. On the contrary, plenty of songs from the soundtracks including 'The Day the Wind Blows', 'Illusion', 'A Country Man', 'Love' and 'If You' were not used at all in the series.

[P.S. — Once more, I implore everyone to post new threads. Don't just sit back and wait for this forum to grow; take the initiative! Post!]

I'm glad you mentioned the Alseides/Oreides thing, it's interesting how many people don't know it's a Greek reference. They're nymphs of the glen/grove and the mountains/caves respectively. I've also seen it spelled Alseids and Oreads, depending on what translations you read. Kind of odd to name giant mechs after nymphs, but hey, it sounds cool. :)

The planet Gaea is named after the earth goddess of Greek myth. She was born from Chaos, and Uranus, the sky, was born from her. Gaea and Uranus created everything on Earth.

According to the staff of the movie, the only reason they didn't kill off Dilandau in the movie (as they were originally thinking of doing) was because they liked his character too much to do it!

Sorry for insulting your intelligence but...

The newly invented spoiler system is workable (looks like this one your reading), so I suggest you spend some time to learn and use this useful addition to M2A :)... As follows: {spoiler=your spoiler title}blah blah blah{/spoiler} but replace the {} with []

    ...am I correct?

Indeed you are. But to tell the truth, I asked BakaMattSu about this sort of thing once. In a lengthy post such as this where possible spoilers are so integrated into the post that picking them out individually would be impossible, it would be necessary to put the entire post under spoiler tags. This would result in a whole page of blankness which, in my opinion, is just unsightly. I asked for advice, and BMS said that any method of my choice to disclose that the post contains spoilers would be sufficient, so I chose to put the spoiler warning at the beginning of the post, with bold letters and highlighted in red font, making it impossible to miss.

In the end, though, the final word belongs to the Esca mods. They essentially rule here, so I'll let them decide if this and similar posts require spoiler tags. If they do, they're free to edit my post themselves, putting in the required tags, or they could let me know and I'll be the one to do it. ^_^

    Argh, not again...

Can you please credit you sources? I don't think the owner of that site would appreciate you presenting things off of his site without credit.

    *shrugs*

I would have, if I'd known the source. These lists are the result of several months (or years) of net-browsing and downloading. Most of the URLs were lost in the process as I download pages as *.txt files as a preventive measure against viruses. Now that I know the source page, I could credit them. ^_^

    For future reference....

Please at least state that you got the information from a website, even if you cannot remember the exact URL. It will save problems like this from cropping up in the future.

    Thanks!

I think a GREAT way to get new members in posting is to have an actual trivia question game, eh? because there's quite a lot of info, but let's turn it into something entertaining? I'd like to play a trivia game ^__^

Well, since no one else is going to, I guess I will ask the first question! :D

    Easy:
What is Hitomi Kanzaki's birth date?

    Medium:
What are the full names of Vahn's parents?

I urge you not to cheat and go look it up... honor system! You can go look it up if you like, but put it in a spoiler box, and admit that ya didn't know!

Perhaps something of a mistitle there. Maybe VOE Facts? I am curious though... what exactly do you consider trivia? I was under the impression that small facts are trivia. ^_^

My interp of "trivia" would be questions? To test your Esca knowledge.

The dictionary definition of trivia is as follows:

matters or things that are very unimportant, inconsequential, or nonessential; trifles; trivialities.

    The definition of trivial is

    1. of very little importance or value; insignificant. 2. commonplace; ordinary.

Nowhere in either definition does it state that trivia are questions. In point of fact, the game Trivial Pursuit tests your knowledge of trivia--those facts that many people do not know; the random knowledge that you pick up from various sources.

However, that is neither here nor there, really.

Now, back on the current topic (aka testing knowledge of Escaflowne trivia)....

I believe that Hitomi's birthday is sometime in December. I know I've seen it somewhere before, but going to look it up would technically be cheating.

I know the first names of Van's parents, but not their full names. His father is Goau and his mother is Varie.

This may be slightly out of context for this thread, but i've had a trivial question that's been bugging me for quite some time now, and i'm just wondering can anyone here answer it for me:

Does the Red Guymelef that Dilandau (however you spell that) pilots in the Vision of Escaflowne Movie have a name?

Keep in mind, this isn't part of the quiz, and I have no idea if it does or doesn't. If anyone can help me on this thanks.

Umm, yea that's true. But as far as I know it's only in the series that those names apply, and not in the movie.

    Could be though.

I guess it is the same... I dunno, I'm the series expert, not the movie expert, lol. ^^
As for the question... uh, I guess I'll answer it.

Okay... so the evil messed up Zaibachians decide to start "experiments". So they steal little Serena (Allen's Sis), brainwash her, give her Jajuka, a loyal doggie nurse, in a way, and turn her into a boy. Dilandau, the insane, rubber-faced pyro general kid, to be exact. ^_^
