Ok, maybe this is normal for some people, but i was walkin' past a (very smokey) video arcade in Melbourne and i saw all sorts of things like a sword simulater a DJ simulator a guitar face off machine and a drum simulator, best of all the drummachine had a huge selection of tracks from all sorts of J-Pop i even saw somebody doing the "drumming" for the song ROMANCE by Penecillan, also known as the sexy commando theme.

Anyone else experienced some wacy arcades?
    I wanna here about it!

If it weren't so smokey I'd have given that samurai style, light sword game a shot.

I *LOVE* that game!!! The samurai game r0x0r...most people look like an idiot playing, but I just look like...Yahiko when he started. ...Wait, nevermind.

Anyway, whacky arcade games? Well, there's this place here called "Infinity Arcade" and it's like...Asian owned so they get ALL the cool import games. They had Beatmania 4th Mix (The DJ game) "BIG" mode...it's HUGE. Three people can easily get on the platform. Hmm...they have a 747 game where you fly a 747. Then there's the Initial D game. And "Typing of the Dead" a typing game set to "House of the Dead". The drum game was there...and a DDR style game with moroccas. Umm...they also had...s2...a really DOPE puzzle game, but it's pretty hentai. LOL.

Oh and...the Speedzone here has a golf game that runs on the same engine style as the samurai game. It was awesome. Long, since it took about 30 minutes for our friend to play...but AWESOME. Oh, and the new fad coming here now is those Japanese Mega-mix games...where it's like 50 in 1 and they have all DOPE olde schools. Like: Street Fighter I, King Arthur, Bomberman, the not seen here Rockman Bomber...etc.

Oh, and a lot of DDR music is preexisting. I can't remember how wierd it was to hear Britney Spears and It's a Small World and such...

funny arcade game machines.. the thing that springs to mind is the horse racing game where you sit on something that looks like those saddles on springs you find on playgrounds.. It's like a sit-on motorcycle game only with an embarrassing plastic horse.

The Sexy Commando theme eh? hahaha one wacky show..

    DJ Machine: Beatmania
    Guitar Machine: Guitar Freaks
    Drum Machine: Precussion Mania/Drum Mania

Did ya see any dancing games?

(PS: Yeah, Konami seems to "Sample" music for their games...Drum mania has more than a bit of 80's rock in it...DDR Has a schload of eurodance, from E-Rotic, Bus Stop, and others, and Beat Mania samples lots of techno ^_^=)

*sigh* It wasn't like that in my day. What ever happened to a stick and a bunch of buttons.
Where you didn't have to jump around like a lunatic or look like a prat.

I guess walking along a set path and beating the crap out of hoards of bad guys is old fashioned now.

You mean like double dragon or Final fight or Vendetta? Yeah those were alright. Some arcades (like the dive in Adelaide) have it.

In timezone, they had this game where you had to move youre hands over these rings to match the music. THAT looked dumb. They also had this cool police game (Police 24/7) where you had motion sensors, and THATS how you dodged, so it actually involved skill and a bit of exercise, not just stepp'n on a pedal, and the second you're shot, you're dead. Brilliant.

The same arcade had what may very well be mine and Legatos favourite arcade game:Virtua On.

It isnt *wacky* but I love the Silent Scope arcade game. Most people don't hold the gun correctly, putting one hand ON TOP of the barrel....

One time I actually drew a crowd while playing it. Frickin' nuts.

    What else?

Anyone else remember Sega's Holographic Cowboy Game? The really crappy one that made no sense, and when you died you got to see some dumb-arse wizard run around like his bum was on fire screaming "BE MORE CAREFUL! YOURE ALMOST OUT OF TIME CRYSTALS!" or something?

That 3d game was hilarious. I only played it once, and I got so confused I laughed my tail off just because. I used to think it was so hightech...LOL.

Anyway, SS is a GREAT game. And how are you SUPPOSED to hold the scout? I mean, the sniper gun? I always hold it at that big piece of "wood" (plastic) that holds the barrel. Isn't it where you're supposed to hold it? Oh yeah, I love playing story mode or whatever and not using scopes. It's pretty funny if you hit the guy, and people think you're all pro...when you're really sweating it out because you don't see if they're aiming for you and shooting or not....:sweat2:

Okay, I stated this before, but we have Typing of the Dead here. House of the Dead with a keyboard. How crazy freaky is that!? Hehe, you should see all the hunters too, they wear this wierd harness thing straight out of the Family Guy episode where that dad was nuts because he had no cable and strapped on a cardboard TV to a belt and walked around pretending everythign was on TV. Sigh...runon sentence. Anyway, you see them wear that..keyboard thing...and you type whatever word or katakana/kanji (with hiragana above it for those not in the know of the word) is shown. So, you can shoot a zombie that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind, but still miss the one in front. And to shoot projectiles, they usually have a symbol above them...like a period or a bracket or the !@#$%^&*() keys. Dang, I gotta play that game again.

How are you supposed to hold the scope? Basically, however you feel comfortable.

Personally I always hold it like you'd hold a real sniper rifle.

I saw this game where you hold on to 2 grips and virtual box your opponent, it uses the same motion sense technology as "Police 24/7"

I saw a podracer game where you have to control the power in the engines to turn (like in the sh!tty movie) as well as some nifty gun games and WAY to many fishing games.]
    Barcode hasn't changed.....

I cant believe theres no more planet hollywood...

You should be able to capture the same old feeling. Walk into an op shop with some caramelised onions and ask them to turn the music up too loud. Close your eyes and breath deeep.

Hmm. You could also offer the staff in the op shop lots of money to suck up to you beyond belief.
