Watase Yuu Works Watase's Work

I've noticed that there are some similarities in her work.
Like in episode 28, I think, of Fushigi Yugi Tamahome sleep-grabs Miaka.
Same thing with Alice 19th. Kyo did the same thing to Alice.
Frey reminds me of Tasuki. He kind of looks like him too.
And almost all of her stories have love triangels in them.
Notice anything else?

Spoiler: Fushigi Yugi and Ayashi no Ceres

Everyone thought that Nuriko was a girl but he's a guy and in Ayashi no Ceres that one guy singer eveyone thought was a guy is a girl.

 

That singer guy you mentioned is named Shuro. I have noticed that the main hero guys all look a lot alike. Toya from Arashi no Ceres, Tamahome from Fushigi Yugi, Kyo from Alice 19th and Koki from Imadoki, they all look a lot alike. They all also seem to be really reserved and only open up after they meet the heroine. Just something have noticed.

 

Yeah, that's true.
Except I think Tamahome looks the best!

 

There are certain formulas, instigators, and plot devices that Watase-sensei seems to love to use over and over again.

Attempted rape being one of the biggest ones.

I got another one.
I was reading Imadoki v.1 again and another one is Yamazaki hurt her left thigh and Koki tied a hankercheif around it for her.
Same thing happend in Fushigi Yugi v.1 when Miaka hurt her left thigh also and Tamahome wrapped it for her.
I can't believe I didn't notice that one before.......

 

Well she's written alot of series ya know. ^^; Every writer/artist has little thing sthey like to use again again.

I, for example like to use religious symbols, names and astrology. (and I've noticed it in pratically everything I write oo hoooo....)
I'm sure if you look at any books by a aparticular author, or any manga by a particular Manga-ka, you'll notice similarties in all their work. That's just how people and writers are.
