My god have you ever seen vash's face on a pic ?! it's really awsome, but in the series they make him do stupid faces and half the time you can't even see his real face, by that i mean they give him big eyes and other things. i just can't take vash as a real character. can you imagine spike from the bebop doing those faces ? i woould just die. come someone help me get over this ? or do you hate the faces too ?

Those so called 'annoying faces' are classic Japanese drawing styles expressing emotion or just for a general laugh when you least expect it. (Though the one above is an exception, it was kinda weird)

Afterall, Trigun is action and also comedy, like most animes the funny side to things is to deliberately exaggerate the characters face expressions. Of course the more 'serious' type animes like 'Noir' or 'Wolf's Rain' would never do such things. Cowboy Bebop as far as I know didn't pull off any of those faces but they made it funny in a diverse and origianl way.

Why he does it all the time is probably to attract the younger audience to watch it as well since the violence in it isn't too great, it would be suitable. Some westerners do find these sort of stuff peculiar (the sweat drop showing fear and blood on top of the nose showing embarrasment are classic examples) because it isn't the western drawing style. Most of the time these expressions are deployed successfully, it is just whether you can adapt to it or not. Clearly you need some getting used to, but after a while it will be less annoying and you'll perhaps end up liking it.
