Yesterday I went into a couple video stores, wondered over to their anime on DVD, and stared at the racks of anime. I had the money...I just couldn't decide what to buy. I thought and thought until I walked out of the stores empty-handed and defeated.
Anyway, what do you like? Tell me some anime series and/or movies you like so I can have some ideas of what to get. Maybe you could give me a little info on a series/movie or two you like?
Seen Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam 08th MS Team, Gundam 0080, Gundam 0083, G-Gundam, Slayers, YuYu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Magic Knights, Sailor Moon, yada yada yada as in series... movies I've seen Plastic Little, Gundam the movie 1-3, G-Savior, something I can't remember the name of, Ghost in the Shell, Gundam 08th MS Team Miller's Report, and things like that...
After all this long message, I'm merly asking you (though it might not seem like it now) what series you like/what you think I should get, and maybe a little info on that series... just so I can go into a video store and have some ideas of what to look for and what not to look for.
    Thanks! :D
    Sieg Zeon!

    Was "Saber Marionette" available?

If you can get your hands on SMJ, i'd gladly recommend it.

If not, Love Hina is good and funny.

    endless list

I like 'em all but I LOVE:
Escaflowne, Nadeisco, Neon Gensis Evagelion, sailor moon, inu yasha, fruits basket, trigun, His and Her Circumstances, X, Bastard, Hellsing, Scryed, Sorcerer Hunters, etc.....oh geez....ummmm. Seeing as I'm sure no one is willing to hear me list my countless many favorites and I'm not willing type them all out.

    Ja Ne,
    Chi-rushi

    :D :p

    Hmm...recommendations, eh? Heeeere we go...

    1. Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (aka Kare Kano, aka His and Her Circumstances) - Kinda like Saved by the Bell or something. About two people (frosh in highschool) who work together to drop their masks.
    2. Love Hina - Dude makes a promise when he was really little to get into Tokyo University to meet his one true love. During his studies, ends up being a manager of a girl's dorm at an inn his granma owns.
    3. Cowboy Bebop - Eh, you watched it already.
    4. Chobits - Guy finds robot girl. Teacher her about life. Other stuff.
    5. FLCL (aka Fooly Cooly, aka Furi Kuri) - Six episode OVA that was considered an anime for 2001. Very kooky and very fun. Pretty deep if you think hard about it too.
    6. Ai Yori Aoshi - Girl is engaged to guy. Guy tries to get used to it. More hilarity ensues.
    7. Serial Experiments: Lain - Girl wants to find out WHY.
    8. Golden Boy - Idiot. Girls fall in love with him. He's a genius. Six episodes. Pretty hentai-ish.
    9. Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 - Girls fighting to save MegaTokyo from rampaging robots.
    10. Di Gi Charat - Utter nonsense. In a good way.
    11. Angelic Layer - Girl finds she's good at fighting using remote dolls. Makes friends. Shoujo styled anime.
    12. Full Metal Panic! - Military type anime. Kinda a cross between a Nadesico, Dual, and Eva. More militial though. Pretty serious in some parts.
    13. Scryed - Can't give a fair description at the moment. Haven't finished it or seen enough to flesh plot out. Good nonetheless.
    14. Noir - See Scryed. It's good though.
    15. Ranma ½ - Guy gets cursed to turn into a girl. Comedy...though I think you know that.
    16. Fruits Basket - Girl lives with a few guys who change into animals according to chinese zodiac. Shows them love and care that they need. Haven't finished this either.
    17. Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex - See Noir.
    18. Boys Be... - Saved by the Bell type thing again. It's "seasonal"...watch and find out what I mean.
    19. .hack//SIGN (well, the whole .hack series.) - See Ghost in the Shell.
    20. Onegai Teacher - High school student marries alien teacher. Comedy ensues.

Y'know stuff like that. Most of those turn out to be romantic comedy...but some like....Noir, CITS, .hack, Lain, BGC2040 are more serious. Noir, especially.

Edit: Just read you wanted a short description...I'll add 'em now.

Can you imagine how long the list of all the different animes is?
And that only an EXTREMELY small fraction of them.

Be sure to take a peek at the members' Definitive watching list sticky in the newbie forum. It should also give you a glimpse of which series are recommended - just find someone on the board who appears to have similar tastes to you (that can be a toughie :p).

    After seeing Cowboy Bebop,it can't get much better.Am I right,pal?Here's a few I really like:

1.Burn Up W:5 female cops and 1 guy cop right wrongs in a big city gone mad.Sound like the same old thing?Well,it isn't!The characters are surprisingly deep and the story is packed to the brim with hilarious jokes(I actually laughed out loud on this one).
It goes from humorous to deeply serious seamlessly. On the surface,it may look typical, but it's actually very very unique. If you like this one,try Burn Up Excess.Less story, more humor.

2.Lupin the 3rd:A gang of incredible theives rip the world off time after time.Vany adventures and heavy humor make this a timeless classic. After only a few episodes, this one is likely to become a favorite.

3.Real Bout High School:Great animation and great fight scenes combine!A school develops a fighting system called K-Fight to solve disputes between students. It's like Street Fighter meets Tenchi Muyo(sort of).
