Anime What are cels?

    I'm sorry... I've seen many of them, but I can't make out exactly what ARE they? They look like sketches of the animes.

    I guess technically they are the anime :). There used by the original animators to 'create' the anime.

    They are original animation frames - I have one from Battle of the Planets.

    www.anime-taro.com is a good site with lots of cels for sale.

    Cels are one of the coolest anime collectables IMO.

    I've only got a few at the moment but they're just so cool to have when you can pick out your cels in each anime.

    You know that alley scene at the beginning of Akira? I have 2 of Kaneda and Tetsuo cels from it.

    Might be silly but I just love that feeling.

    cels are the clear sheets that get painted on and used to make an anime. there are thousands upon thousands of cels used to make a show. they are one pic over and over but in slightly changed poses...normal animatino thing, but the drawings get moved onto a clear hard sheet, like a projector page...they get the outline printed on them, and are hand painted(some aren't anymore) on the back side so they look right on the front...the sketches used get a color scheme sketched out in color pencil on them so the colorist knows how to paint the cel.
    this is an example of pages... that will like to the pencils sketches for the image...note, each person is a separe drawing..with strange coloring on them when you see the pencils..a good finished cel, all layered up and ready to be shot this is a few cels on one background...some come with a copy of the background so you can place them in it...note the edges and the fact that you can also see the edge of the cel...just an example tho*^-^*

    Those are awesome pics! Very cool looking, my friend paints cel.. but I have to say she's quite awful..
