   i have always wondered what are plugsuits, how the fact how they get them on, what are there purpose???

   They actually explained that in-show. They're for maintaining a better nerve interface with the plug into the evangelion. They seemed to have gotten them on via a zipper in the back, and they get the air suctioned out, for that really close feeling.
