I was just wondering. It has been years since I was in school. I was just wondering if they are still making you read the same things.

I hate when we have to a novel for class, I am very picky in the books I read so I have a hard time reading them. We just got done reading a book called the Outsiders. It is about this boy in gang. It wasn't that good, but it was horrible.

So far we have read Animal Farm and The Odysee. We are currently reading Great Expections.

I think we read close to six books total.

Well oddly enough, right now my Geometry teacher is making us read a book in his class called Flatland. Very confusing. . .about dimensions and stuff. @_@

In the past, for school, I have read parts of the Odysee, Animal Farm, 1984, Christmas Carol, Dracula, Ender's Game, Tom Sawyer, The Hobbit, Speak and what we most recently finished in English; Romeo And Juliet.

I probably read some others too but I cant think of what ones.

Yes, it’s interesting, I suppose, after you understand it. It takes a little bit for you to absorb it all. (at least for me it did) And completely understand what is going on about. At times it’s like reading out of a dictionary. But it is interesting, no doubt.

Ninth Grade: The Good Earth, Romeo and Juliet, Night, Catcher in the Rye, and I think there was something else but I can't remember... it was only two yeas ago too.

Tenth: All Quiet on the Western Front, Count of Monte Cristo, Julius Caeser, A Tale of Two Cities, Grapes of Wrath, and assorted poems about people dying and revenge...... my tenth honors teacher was great ^.^ scary somtimes, but great.

    And this year....

We've read Ethan Frome, Scarlet Letter, and currently To Kill A Mockingbird. I think we're gonna read one more book but I dunno what it is.

Apparently last year at this school (I just transfered here) the kids read The Bell Jar, Catcher in the Rye, and a mess of other books like that........ not Hamlet though. Apparently Hamlet and MacBeth aren't part of the cirriculum at this school. Neither is The Great Gatsby. I hated the Great Gatsby but it's kinda disappointing that they don't have to read those books.

Both will do actually. To be honest I don't remember what I read in middle school.

Here is what I read like 8 to 2 years ago.
    Outsiders
    Odysee
    Animal Farm
    1984
    A Christmas Carol
    Romeo & Juliet
    Johnny Tremain
    Scarlet Letter
    Catcher in the Rye
    Julius Caeser
    A Tale of Two Cities
    Grapes of Wrath
    Great Expections
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. (My sister had to read this to she rented the movie. She ended up renting the wrong one. Hehe)
And this Princess one where her name is Buttercup.
Also a bunch of short stories and probably so many other books.

Well, I'm currently in college and I'm majoring in English Lit, so I've been doing a whole lot of reading. To the point where I have trouble remembering everything I had to read two semesters ago, let alone all the stuff I had to read in public school.

Oh, I remember some of the titles, just not all of them (or even most of them, really). Let's see...

    Elementary School
    ------------------
    Johnny Tremain
    Incredible Journey
    Treasure Island
    Island of the Blue Dolphin

    Junior High
    ----------
    The Hobbit
    The Outsiders
    Romeo and Juliet

    High School
    -----------
    Catcher in the Rye
    Beneath the Wheel
    Julius Ceasar
    Hamlet
    1984
    Raisin in the Sun
    The Handmaid's Tale

    College
    -------
    ...too many to count. ^_^;;

I can only recall a few books. I remember doing Romeo and Juliet, but i didn't have a clue as to what they were saying.
I also remember reading To Kill A Mocking Bird, which i think was a bit advanced, but we somehow managed to get through it.
I also remember Goodnight Mr Tom, which i loved so much i read a few times.
As well as Under The Hawthorn Tree. Which was about tree kids tring to get to there aunties house during the great irish famine.
And finally The Lies Of Silence, which was about a man who was taken hostage by the IRA and told to bomb a hotel otherwise they would kill his wife.

Some where interesting but most only held my interest cause i had to study them or fail my exams.

I just finished reading "That was then this is now" by no means a horrible book, I just found it ot be somewhat boring. Also Huck Finn, once you've read it you can't help but find it laughable that people call it "racist".
