Anime What do you get from anime?

I was just reading through some past threads when i came across one that involved an argument over why different people watch anime (I believe one made a generalization that all westerners watch anime out of sheer perversion, to which others made arguments).

Anyway, i was just curious to what you experience from watching anime (or reading manga). It entertains you, but why?

Personally, I seek inspiration in everything i do to help me in life and to get where i want to be in it. Anime provides plenty of inspiration for me. No matter how depressed or hopeless i may feel, a good anime always provokes certain emotions for me (as it is intended to) that make me get off my a** and go do something with my life. I guess they sort of remind me that i'm trying to be something great with my life, too. It sounds stupid, but thats how i feel.

That and they're fun to watch.

 

hmm...what do i get from anime? it makes me think, makes me look at things from a different perspective. anime inspires me i guess, and really i don't know what my life would be like without it. i don't remember what it was like before it.

it makes me realize who i am...though it also makes me see what i wish i could be.

but enough of the serious anime! it's hilarious, and i guess overall anime gives me something to do.

it also makes me broke... yay, one meal a day!

 

I looked into it for two reasons: I'm a music addict and an art buff.

In both, good anime takes anything I've seen yet and kicks its tail.

I still watch anime because it deals with things that aren't dealt with well around here (the States). Anime and Manga are for more mature audiences.

Just like everything else, they are merely re-hashings of the same stories (NB: popular theory says that there are only a handful of stories, but a whole heck of a lot of ways to present them) but, being animted can tell these stories in a much vaster universe or set of universes.

 

I would have to say that you can look at most animes and mangas and see that the creators of each series take their work very seriously. The cartoons they produce are not just for children, as they usually are in America. Japanese animation is usually taken to a very serious and in depth level, using it to convey messages rather than just make people laugh.

 

This is a good question. I commend you koh-mos. Depending on what I watch, it always evokes an emotion in me, like you said. Anime is my escape from everything else. It makes me laugh, it's the only show(s) that I've watched that have made me come close to crying (don't cry at acutual movies, its ghey), and it just puts me in another world where I can forget about all the troubles I'm havin. Plus......I just love it, it's kind of innate or something. ^^ Same thing goes for when I'm working with me art.

 

It gives me inspiration and entertainment. I enjoy watching anime and reading manga because it makes my day. I also love the art. My art style has greatly improved since I started watching Anime and reading Manga. So have my storylines.

It also passes the time. ~_^

 

I,too,get inspiration from anime.It was anime that has inspired me to become an animator.Other than that,it is REALLY cool and fun to watch!

 

It makes me think, makes me feel. Cheers me up, gives me something to do. Causes to meet some truly groovy folks, adds another facet onto my broadening difference. Many reasons, more than I have here listed. But you get the jist.

 

Anime Gives Me Joy, Happiness, Anger, Sadness and lots more. It inspires me, entertains me and i love the art.

i watcha anime cause....
-for a while, the fantasy of it draggs me out of the ****-holeness of reality
-the girls in them are usually perfect
-they make me laugh
-they make me cry (not really, but they make me sad)
-they give me something to do
-they prevent me from killing myself
-they calm me down when i am pissed off
-they cheer me up when i am down
-they make me think
-they make me wonder
-they broaden my imgination
-they have good story lines
-ummmm

i get everything i ever need from them, other than food, and bathroom breaks,and sleep. i watch them and then i sit there and think, of wut it would be like to have powers like some of the people in sum animes. like alucard being able to go into his realm thing, and stuff.

 

anime is another escape from reality....

I watch anime cause I think its fun.... that simple

 

To escape reality, I guess. I am also a book addict and I know I read them because they allow me to leave the real world behind for a little while, and anime/manga does the same thing.

Why anime in particular? Because of the art, the stories, the emotions they make me feel and because a lot of them have very deep subplots that make them even more interesting.

 

What do I get out of it? I'd say it's a medium for me to be unique and not like the rest of the people at school I know. This may not be totally true anymore because anime is becoming more and more popular though. But when I'm in a group and someone asks me what I'm interested in and I say anime everyone gives me a weird look, and it's great! I'd rather not be like the rest of society anyways

Also I get a bit of motivation from watching some anime as well, like Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun makes me want to go out and fight for justice... and some are just for entertainment, like the romance comedies(which I do learn things from.. oh yeah )

 

I get laughs...

I like the more funny anime series, like comedy; with some seriousness too, i guess.

 

Education, philosophizing, questioning, entertainment, a way to vent and relax.

 

Let's see... I get Drama,comedy,something that takes me away form the realities of life, sadness, new and different ways of thinking, umm well it passes time and it also gives me something to be addicted to I guess. (*^_^*)
