    Seeing as no one's answering...

    Came across this.

    Summary of the story and some character backgrounds. It doesn't appear to be in depth, but it's something...

    I was gonna do one of these ya know. -- I just wanted to find a site wiht indepth detail about it cause I had one that i used for Fushigi Yuugi (making sure my info was correct and such) and I've only read the manga (and I prefer the summeries to match the anime).

    Plus I'm the largest procrastinator in the world. ^^; I would've replied to this sooner but I procrastinate. ^^;

    But if someone else would like to tell what it's about, that's fine with me...

    Ayashi no Ceres is based on a Japanese legend. Yuu Watase tells a sort of personal version of it, which is as follows.

    A long time ago, a ten'yo (celestial maiden) left her hagoromo (feathered cloak) hanging on a tree while she and two others bathed in the sea. Without it, she could not return to heaven. A fisherman took her hagoromo and, when asked by the ten'yo if he had seen it, he said he had not. It was a great treasure to him and he wished not to return it. The fisherman and the ten'yo eventually married (since she didn't have her hagoromo, she was forced to remain on Earth) and had children. The ten'yo's name was Ceres.

    And she was NOT happy with the fisherman. She decided she would take revenge upon his descendants for his wrongdoing. This family became the family Mikage.

    Fast forward. The Mikage family are rich and prosperous and owners of a large company -- this because they harnessed the divine powers they received from Ceres. After all this time, you'd think Ceres has forgotten or given up on her goal.

    Wrong. She has been working on this for generations. She is reborn into a female Mikage every so often, taking over their consciousness when they turn sixteen. The family present each sixteen-year-old girl with a test to see if Ceres is within her. If the heavenly maiden is found to be in her, she is promptly killed, for Ceres is determined to bring the family to ruin.

    Aya Mikage, our heroine, is the next girl Ceres resides in.

    However, it is not so simple in her case, for within her twin brother Aki lives the psyche of the fisherman of legend, and he wants his wife back.

    The story follows Aya and her attempts to be a normal girl again. Along the her way in the journey she meets other ten'yo descendants, makes friends, encounters enemies, and, inevitably, finds love.
