Anime What is Fan Service?

As the subject states
Me and my brother were wondering what exactly that is?

 

Fan service... How to describe fanservice. They are the unnecessary panty shots, the extra bounce added to big breasted charactes, the slow panes up womens legs. Animators little gifts to the male viewers. At least thats the definition Ive always heard.

 

If you want to see fanservice in action, go watch Mahoromatic. There is apparently so much in there, some friends of mine got completely scared off

 

It's not just for the men. Shirtless Bishies, shower scenes, vegetas arse, it's all fan service, even if it is of men. Any gratuitous nudity, semi-nudity.

 

Also watch Mahou Tsukai tai. Lots of fanservice there. But be carefull sometimes the animators play dirty little tricks on you. I just got a bad mental image of a scene from Tekkaman Blade.

Don't forget the fanservice in Saber Marionette J ^_~. J again is all about fan service for the boys, but J to X has a little fan service for the gals ^_^
