Full Metal Alchemist what is up with the elric's father is he really their father?

i'm getting confused at the elric's father what or who is he

Hohenheim was the first man who successfully created a philosopher stone... and lived. That was around 400 years ago, along with Dante, his lover (or wife?). The philosopher stone allowed them to put their souls into other persons' bodies, and achieve eternal life... almost. The catch is that their own souls degenerated, making their bodies slowly rot. This forced them to use (and waste) the philosopher's stone to get new bodies for their souls.

Dante wants to make a new philosopher's stone to get hold of a new body, while Hohenheim just accepted the fact that he will die someday.

Why Hohenheim appeared in this time, or why he lost the notion of time, is still unknown. What we know is that when he met Trisha, he fell in love with her and married her, having two children: Ed and Al.

The reason for leaving them was that his body was rotting too, and he didn't want Trisha to witness the process.

 

All that is in fact true and accurate to the last. However:

If he came ten years later and still looks allright, why did he leave? And did he loose the notion of time because of how old he was?

If you actually were that curious, then too bad. I didn't even watch it till the end, but it's almost done. Besides, we all saw the posters to the Movie, Ed's there isn't he!?

If someone's talking about something as important as Hoenhimm of the Light, which by the way doesn't even appear in the intro until the 4th intro (Thank you adult swim for changing it! Ready Steady Go! Is awsome, but it needed more!), then you're most likely to get spoilers.

Poor guy though.

I have yet to watch the part with Eds father. But I can see some peoples point of wanting to know. It just feels like it takes forever.

For example I have watch all of Hikaru no Go were my man is sticking with the DVDs until he saw DVD 2. He was like were are your DVIXs?

Well maybe because his body only rotts because hes useing the philo Stone Also maybe the other side of the gate (Where hes Been i think) slows down the process of him rotting Luckily. He wasnt Rotting in the place that counts.

For the last time. He left because his body was rotting. It's not because of the Stone, it's his soul. Every time he changes bodies, his soul weakens. He didn't want Trisha or the boys to see him rotting, so he left...
