    Akira, no contest.
    I really liked Mononoke and Fireflies too though.
    I even liked the dub of Mononoke, if that isn't a dangerously heretical statement!

    though i did quite like blood the last vampire and akira.

    I find ninja scroll offensive in so many ways.. some people may like that idea, so by all means :D

    My favourite.. does Memories count? It is a group of three unrelated stories, creepy, funny, and polit commentary. Great collection, by the guy who did Akira and Spriggan.

    Also, I liked Wings of Honneamise Gainax's first production (Gainax was founded to make it), and a true classic, which of course means it won't be well received by the masses. haha I am a snob.. anyway :p Seriously, it didn't even break even for more than a decade after its release. This is in part due to it's non mainstreamness (that is a word, I just used it) and also in part to its huge budget, which was about $4-5 million.

    so, anyone to whom the names Gainax and Otomo Katsuhiro mean anything, give these a look. The rest of you don't need to bother (kidding!)
