Since everyone in this site is different so are their feelings on what they like in a character. I was thinking what type of personality do people like to see in their favorite characters.
In my case i like characters that tend not to act their age. For example Misato from Evengelion. She is always such a slob when shes at home and the fact that she is the only one that can eat her own cooking always makes me laugh. Another would have to be Ruri from Nadesico. She always acts older then she really is which makes her kind of cute.
The other type of character that i like is the mischeifives (however you spell that word) type. Like my al new favorite character Su from Love Hina. The way she is always cooking up some sort of trouble for Keitaro and the way that she always kicks him in the face is so funny.

So id like to know what kind of personalities you like to see in your characters.

I like unpredictable charachters, because its just boring when you see a charachter and think "hey, they're almost exactly like (insert other charachters name here)"

A flawed character is always the best because they're not perfect.

Usually a character that shows reserve or is solemn and somber. Usually an emulation of me in some way.

To me, tis easy. A character that doesn't annoy/bug the heck outta me. v.v Anything could make a great character for me -- I mean, that's why everyone is great! Uniquness. And shtuff others don't have. ^^; But. Some characters. . just get to that point, where they lose it all. ):

:anime: I would have to agree with Lime on this one! cause any character I could like! Like Irvine off of Zoids Chaotic Century...stubborn,yet caring..Lime off of Saber Marionnette J....crazy,funny,and cooks stuff that is fuzzy, black and moves..Oo I like a lot of different personalities..It just depends on if they bug the living heck out of me or not.

I like characters who aren't too serious nor too silly, but just right. And I like it when a character uses pure skill to get things solved, rather than just being at the right place at the right time. I also like humble characters who can get nuts and powerful when it's time to fight, as opposed to silly characters who can get nuts and powerful when it's time to fight.

Oh, and I sometimes like characters who are a lil bit on the mystical, supernatural side while everyone else is normal, and at the same time they act cool yet mature. Just like Chikage from Sister Princess. :) And that one black-magic girl from To Heart (I can't remember her name, but her supernatural hobby and her meek, whisper-soft voice really did it for me).

Donnoz about you, but I think a great character is one who's so totally unique... you can't forget them. I mean, even days later you'll be dreaming about that certain character. I need a character who's hard core, who never smiles and is so stuck on trying to survive on his own that he crushes everyone in his way and forgets to love along with life. Then I'd want that character to melt with one women and switch his cold heart to one of gold... (or just have a heart for her :catgirl: )

Depth and flaws. Nobody is perfect; everyone has layers to their personality.

Funny, crazy, different....but, in order to be a little realistic, some character's should be a bit more boring....but not DA HERO!

This is a great question. At first you'd think it's simple, the most heroic, the person you'd most want to be like... but then, you look at great characters like Excel or Nanako, and no one would want to be like them, still, they're great characters. I think it might be that we like the characters that create the most fantastic (as in fantasy) ideas in our heads. I mean no one would *want* to be around Naru, right? I don't have that good a dental plan :) But, she's incredibly entertaining and I love the character. The same with Akane. Inuyasha probably has doggy-breath, but, everyone loves him :) It must be the *movie* these characters create in our heads... a good character is someone we don't necessarily want to be like, or even be around, but someone nonetheless that we don't want to live without...

I like a char. who cares for those close for to him/her, doesn't get mad easily, and is somewhat unpridictable. He/she would take offensive words but not physical abuse(He would stand up for himself and others who are weaker around him/her), like Kenshin from RK or Vash from Trigun. That's for a hero figure.
For the antagonist, he or her would have to be straight out and take no crap from anyone, but also have a lighter side, to make him or her more mysterious. Like Sesshoumaru from the show Inuyasha.

My personal favorite character is the tragic hero. Oftentimes, they aren't the hero, mostly because of their "tragic flaw". Good examples are MacBeth (power lust), Hamlet (any number of flaws), Brutus [from Julius Caesar (betrayal, guilt)], and Othello (jealousy).

A loveable character. :D Someone who's a really good and cute person, and bad crap happens to them. The kind you feel sorry for.
Also, characters with style and "damn, i'm always right, and I can do anything" attitudes, but in a fun kinda way, not arrogant.
And of course the hot jerk bishie. :D

Basically a likeable character that takes a stab at your heart when something happens to them. The kind that learn and grow along with you. They really leave impressions on me.
