Neon Genesis Evangelion what the show about???

    hey i heard alot about this show but i never get a chance to find out what the story is about so all of you fan of neon genesis evagelion out there can you guy do me a favor i would you guy tell me what the story is about.

    its about a guy, some girls and they all use robots to fight aliens.
    but then, its alot more twisted then that, later on in the series.
    it is also funny at times. and also pretty confusing.
    i recommend u watch it. it is good.

    Okay, here we go. The year is 2015, 14 years after the 2nd impact, which wiped out most of the population. At this point in time, we see Shinji get off at Tokyo-3, the third resettlement of a new Tokyo. As he exits the train, Tokyo-3 is attacked by a rather large...THING. He then gets picked up by someone, Misato, to be dropped at NERV, to meet his father. He finds out that he has to pilot this large Robot that only he is able to pilot. Refusing to do so, he is later forced into it.

    Oh, and did I mention that there's massive amounts of religious symbolism? So, if you get easily offended by that sort of thing, too bad. It's a great series.

    It seems like a mecha show at first, but reveals itself to be dedicated more to heady character development and philosophizing.
