Anime What's it Worth?

I've been wondering about this thing for a while. I mean, we all have our likes and dislikes about our favorite anime, but with our dislikes, such as with certain characters, sometimes we tend to get so angry at them every time we hear about them, or see them, or just thinking about them. So the question is, if you hate the character so much, and if he or she makes you so angry and miserable, why on earth do you watch the episode that focuses on that dislikable character, or why on earth do you bother watching the show? If I can't stand a character, I just simply avoid the episodes or the show all together. So why bother?


(Keeping in mind, that I'm not trying to flame anyone. This question is just out of curiousity. )

 

Well, there are several reasons for continuing on (IMHO).

1. Continuity plays a big part, I think. If you want to say you've watched the whole series, or if you want to make sure you know everything that happens, you have to watch every episode, even the ones that focus on the character(s) you despise.

2. You don't neccessarily hate the character, but you don't particularly like them either. This is more of the "I will complain about this character because it's fun to complain" mindset.

Beyond that, I really don't know. There are several series that I haven't watched any more of because the characters weren't interesting to me, but on a similar note there are many series that I love that have characters I strongly dislike, but I continue to watch the series because I know the characters will get what they deserve in the end, or they will change enough so I can like them.

It's mostly continuity for me. That and the fact that there might be plot elements hidden in less-than-likeable episodes.
