Excel Saga whats this anime about

    i have never seen excel and i was wondering what its about. thats pretty much it.

    It's about the Faction "Across" and there battle for domination over the goverment of F city.

    The leader of Across Il Pallazo recruits a dead girl Excel so she can carry out outragous plans to dominate the goverment.

    That's what it's about but the comedy is what makes it. Probably the best anime comedy I've seen.

    Those Who Hunt Elves was pretty good to ^_^"

    what do you mean Excel is dead? Hyatt's the one who keeps dying. this anime is a riot! its a must see! do it for poor Menchi!

    (a dog Excel finds and keeps as a back-up food supply)

    She dies, she basicly dies and is reanimated to do acrosses bidding. So i just call her dead.

    Space cowboy pretty much made a fitting summary of the storyline. Though I find the series hilarious so far. I was going to buy the second dvd (yes I know, how sad isn't it?) and well Ranma 1/2 and Love Hina caught my sight first.

    I'm still waiting for a box set of the series. cheaper that way and I wont lose a volume in the abyss which is called my room either.

    wat's the deal with hyatt..she constantly dies I mean is she a rip-off from south park or vise-versa..^.^

    this anime is more understandable if the viewer has seen a lot of anime and other Japanese shows. it parodies almost everything.. even video dating sims. so I'm not sure where the Hyatt dying comes in, but she's not the only one whose life gets reset.

    someone mentioned Those Who Hunt Elves.. oddly enough the same voice actress who does Excel does Celcia (the dog/elf)... Mitsuishi Kotono. she's also the voice of Ebichu, Katsuragi Misato in Evangelion, Mireille in Noir, and a ton of other voice acting credits in almost every anime Excel Saga parodies, so, she really brings a lot of anime history to the character.

    I heard some reviewer say that Excel finds herself in the battle of her lives.. about sums it up. There are two ways to watch it, one, switch off your brain and just watch in amazement... two, watch and study it closely to pick out the different anime they're parodying. I've watched it both ways.

    One word of advice, episode 26 is not suitable for younger viewers in my opinion (It's the only ep that wasn't made for tv and get's a 17+ rating on the dvd). But you can watch it up to and including ep 25 and get the whole series as seen on tv. Ep 26 is way over the top in my opinion.
