Fruits Basket What's with the female Names?

Why do some of the guys have females names? maybe they explain it in the manga, but they sure as hell didn't explain it on the anime. I mean come on, Momiji, Megumi, Yuki? Even the japanese voice actress thought that when she landed on the role of Yuki, she was gonna play the role of a girl, not a guy. She said it herself on the DVD.

So is there any reason?

Anyway, I can't really think of a reason other than the fact that this is a common occurence in anime/manga of all sorts, not just Fruits Basket. It happens in Weiss Kreuz (Aya, Omi). There's also the case for gender-neutral names; some things are like that.

Should also point out that Tohru is a guy's name....

I think it's rather interesting that Ayame has the character for "onna" ("woman") in his name. But the two Kanji together mean "Iris" or something or the sort. ^^;

Still uberfeminine if you ask me...

 

there is nothin wrong with puttin women voices.
and as Shadowbard said, most animes do the same thing.
think they do it so that the characters voices would sound more cuter then a boy's voice...and face it! yuki looks like a girl...so the voice fits him a lot.

Why must we classify what name goes with what name. Like Ashely was a guys name now it's a girls as with Jordan Why can't every body use them.

If I ever get kids their going to have the strangest names, so no one can classify
