I have Read up to Book 7 of this series and i have to say.. This Series is a Huge Disappointment.. Has a great story but the Jordan ends up boring you to death with details about every little thing.. and after his wife became part editor or something the story became even More boring. So I say that Robert Jordan could have been one of the Great but turned into a failed novelist.. Maybe the last book will somewhat save the series!

The Great Hunt, book #2 is the best.
The end of winter's heart, book #9 is also good.
The others are somewhat good, but those were the best.
The #10th book--crossroads of twilight was the most dissapointing.

Wow.. I liked them all.. I am suprised you didn't enjoy the detail he put in everything.. True, it can be boring at times but the detail made me feel like I was in the story..

Detail is good.. But detail like * as we walked down the road Character A fell into a mud puddle and character B helped them out.*

no its not exact detail but if you go to online book stores and look at ppl reviews there is an Extreemlylarge about of ppl who have been slagging robert Jordan for the dullness of his books..

I think its legitimate. Too much detail really can away from a story.

I mean, when you tell someone about your day, do you add in "And then I went to the bathroom for 7 minutes and 23 seconds. It was number 2. THe toilet paper was white. The person before me did not flush. I used roughly 48 squares of toilet paper" ?

well as you can see from the nick I used to be quitre a fan of this series..

up until book 7 i absaloutely loved twot,, i wrote *so* many theories on the books hehe i read them alla bout 5-6 times and I thought it just couldn't get any better..

unfortunately, I was right.. book 8 was a pretty big dissapointment, book 9... was pretty much the same, but the end made it worthwhile.. as much as the book pisse d me off i went around for a full 2 hours grinning like an idiot cos I was so happy about the end of that book.

book 10..i haven't read it yet

i tried.. god damn I tried, I got 100 pages in and then I just couldnt...

RJ has lost the plot, there are another 3 books at least plannedl, he is milking us for all we are worth, the series has lost all artistic merit it could have had it is just a money making enterprise now. all those #1 bestseller lists must have gone to his head.

all in all twot was amazing to begin with, and I can still close my eyes and imagine myself escaping to tar valon with rand and co.. or traipsing around the Aiel waste.. but the last few books ahve been very dissapointing,.

Well i was just at www.amazon.com and reading the reviews for the 10th book and so far out of 1200 or so reviews.. the book out of 5 stars gets a 2. So that tells you something.

I mean Mordeth is right up till book 7 it was great. though i started to see the fall of this series at book 5 i think..

and cant remember what book it was think it was 6 but the end where Rand and the other Power wielding males slaughtered the enemy Aeils was cool.. But I hated it because i read like 900 pages of bore just to get 100 of action.. more or less..

Oh ill get the last book just to see how the story ends.. but until then I wont read anymore of RJ..

ive a much better read and that’s George R R Martin, Game of Thrones, Clash of kings Storm of Swords!.. and he Makes the Wheel of time Stories look like Mickey mouse and Gang!

i think if Rj had kept the series at the standard of the first 5 books, the series would have been a classic.

but as it is there are much better seires out there

tad williams, memory sorrow & thorn is an amazing fantasy series that I well reccomend to everyone

I've decided that in the interest of my sanity I'm not going to start reading this series again until all the books have been published. I've read through book 4 twice, and both times something happened that kept me from reading beyond that point.

I absolutely love the WoT series. Believe it or not, it is my favourite series next to Lord of the Rings, and I've read a LOT of fantasy. I think the characters are very well developed and the plot is interesting too. The setting is cool too. The various cultures are interesting (even if they are hodgepogde of real life cutlures).

I understand about getting too bogged down with details. I think the last 2 books I read moved a bit too slowly. I haven't read Crossroads of Twilight yet, cause I didn'r know it was out! I'm logging now ro go buy it!!!!

The characters are well developed, and that's actually part of the problem, I think. See, all of the characters seem to be developed, even if the character in question is a random soldier who is going to die in the next scene.

I guess my biggest issue with Robert Jordan's writing is the sheer length of it all. He could probably tell just as excellent a story in half the time. It almost seems as if he's trying to tell people everything about the world he's created, which is something that can be interesting, but isn't really all that necessary. Yes, the author needs to know more or less everything about the world they're working with, but the readers don't necessarily need to have all that same information.

To take another popular example, J.K. Rowling obviously knows everything about the world she's created. She knows how the magic works; she knows how the world is set up. She chooses how much the reader needs to know, however. We can be sure that the students are learning more than just the handful of spells they use in the books, but we don't need to know what those spells are in order to derive enjoyment from the series.

*shrugs* I know this is more or less just my opinion, but I think some authors really need to learn that they don't have to be the next Tolkien in order to tell a good story.

Just to add to that thought. With Jordan he is telling everything about his world in each of his books.. and that bogs the story down.. Now other others authors Like Tolkien for one.. He Created a World "middle earth" and he created stories to go along with middle earth. But he does not exactly combine the 2 in one Massive story He tells as much as he needs to tell.

So if a reader reads the LOTR's then says wow.. id like to know more about middle earth.. there are other books out there that tell the tales of middle earth.. and im sure if you read each and every one of them you will find out everything you ever wanted to know..

So my biggest problem is with Jordan is.. in the first couple books of Wheel of time.. I learnt all I realy care about as far as the world in concerned.. Now i want to read about the story.. but instead his latest books is like trying to read a dictonary with a story mixed into it somewhere!!..
