I'm scared by the fact that people already started school again in some places. ._.

Me? I go back at the end of August. not sure what day. but they always haul us back in on the 30th or 31st around here.

I'm not concerned about going back. life can be pretty dull without school..and i rather do classes then the correspondance stuff I've done at home this summer. (failed science you see, so i took the course during July at home so i won't have to do it again in September) And i see my friends at school. I am especially concerned about my friends, considering one tried to kill herself this summer through an over dose. (tho, this same friend told me she planed to do home school for the first term since she failed a lot of courses...I pray she changed her mind for her sake...) So yeah, i wnat to see them all again and see how they're all doing, and hang out again...

I started my second year of high school today. There was a computer crash and we probably won't be getting our lockers any time soon so I have to carry all of my books and binders around with me because the teachers don't tell us when we need stuff. ALL OF MY BOOKS AND BINDERS DONT FIT INTO ONE BOOK BAG. Not only that, but I haven't even gotten the list for what we need in all the classes yet. And I got like $30 in school and class fees to pay. -.-

I got a question. If school if required by law, why do we have to pay for any part of it when we have no choice if we go or not?

Because it costs a lot of money to school one child and you should be grateful you pay as little as you do. The government covers a LOT of the costs. Consider that they have to pay teachers, buy textbooks and other school property, update the learning material, not to mention providing various events and programming. The reason you have to pay for school is because the education institution *is* underfunded. They don't whine about it for no reason.

Seriously, it costs thousands of dollars to send you to school every year, to make sure you get an education. You may hate going to school, but it's only after you're out that you realize how important it is.

EDIT: By the way, in Canada, at least, you're not required to stay in school after 10th Grade. However, you'd be stupid to drop out because almost every job you can find will require a high-school education, and those that don't either pay minimum wage or very near it, with no chance for advancement of any kind. :)

It really is study or die, kid. :)

I start back tomorrow actually, and I am really looking forward to it. Summer did go by rather fast this year though. 8th grade by the way.

Maybe it's not like that where you're at, but where I'm at everything they provide is litterally junk. Most of the stuff we have is overlooked. Last year, they started building a greenhouse for our agriculture class. Well, that money should of been spent on things like new books(ours are about to fall apart), better desks(most of our desks have holes or scratches that are like CANYONS on the writing board part thingy), or even things like wiping all of the grafiti off of our desks, walls, gym bleachers, and other stuff.

I'm starting to complain too much, but our school design sucks too. The main building is two octagons connected to each other with a hallway thing. Huge wast of space.

    End Rant.
