Penetrating an underground bunker compared to nearly destroying the world... hmmm... I think I'll go with the Evas. ^_^

i already compared gundanium to the Eva's armour;

From the series's

Gundam = can be blown up by precisely placed bombs

Eva = can withstand N2 mines... second generation nukes, normal bombs do squat as shown by missle being aimed at Asuka's Eva's face in EoE.

 

3rd Impact is essentially the end of the world.

umm gundam taste like chicken. but really the eva's can withstand nuclear blasts in the face, not to mention the A.T. field which can reflect all conventional weapons. another thing the eva's are the size of skyscrapers the gundams are only 60 feet in height so "squish" also the eva's are copies of gods and have biological parts and can go berserk gundams are simply mechanical.

 

No...... a gundam can fly into space and shoot away you need a F***ing plug.

 

Eva vs. Gundam...Eva vs. Gundam...hmmm. Well, being a fan of both (though more for Eva), my money's on Evangelions. They could probably beat, or step on, Gundams and tear 'em to pieces. Why, you might ask? Well:

1) AT Field - Plain and simple. To quote, an AT Field 'cannot be prenetrated by conventional weapons.' Most Gundms use conventional weapons (Ex: Vulcan cannons, machine guns, missles, etc). I don't believe that any beam weapons (Beam Saber, Beam Cannon, etc) is considered a coventional weapon, but they still can't get past the AT Field. This is proven during the fight with the 15th Angel, Arael. Rei's Positron Sniper Rifle was deflected by the Angel's AT Field. Same thing with the Mortar Cannon on the 5th. The only energy weapon to penetrate an AT Field was used against the 5th, but that was powered by ALL OF JAPAN. I doubt they could put that much power into a portable beam weapon. And the AT Field can be used as a weapon. Anyone for sliced Gundam?

2) Armor - As Asuka says in the movie, she has hundreds of layers of special, reinforced armor all over her Eva. Gundams have, maybe two, three layers. Unit 02's head managed to survive the impact and explosion of a huge missle for crying out loud!!

3) Height - Eva is about 40 meters tall. Gundams are range from 14 to 20 meters. Need I say more?

4) Power - I will admit that Gundams have a slight advantage without having to worry about the need for external power like the Evas, but then again, there's always that one special power source: S^2 Engine. With the S^2 Engine, Eva's can run for an unlimited amount of time, unlike Gundams who DO have to worry about refueling. Plus, I doubt Gundams can re-grow limbs (with the exception of those infected with DG Cells, from the Devil Gundam)

5) Flying - OK, Gundams have Eva's beat here. Eva's really can't fly with the same speed and maneuverability, but some can fly. Though its only the MP Series (Unit 05 - Unit 13), the same system could be used on the other Evas (Unit 00 - Unit 04). Plus, Unit 01 DID fly in the movie, using a manipulated AT Field to form wings.

6) Cockpit - Basic Gundam cockpits are located in the front of the suit, below the chest protected by several armor layers. The Eva's enrty plugs are located in the back below several thick layers of armor and deep within the unit itself. Hmmm, I wonder which is more vulnerable...?

All I can say, is go Evangelion!! Plus, Unit 01 in Berserker mode? Oh the carnage...

 

well, i have to respond to that.

1) zero system (on Zero, Epyon, and Sandrock) reveals all weaknesses of the given enemy. when mastered, a pilot can exploit most of these weaknesses while still defending himself.

2) a beam sabre and a beam cannon use pure energy. the positron rifle simply propels a whole bunch of postirons (i think) which are matter. the AT field eaisly deflects matter, but energy? i think that's a different story.

3) eva's do have the height advantage, but cannot fly or swim

4) gundanium is stronger thatn you think. gundam wing blocked a full beam from libra, which destroyed an entire city (if not more), and that's eaisly the power of a nuclear anything.

yes, but it only takes a little to disorient the pilot of an eva, as they feel the pain of the eva. in a gundam, you can all but destroy it before the pilot feels anything except a change in the controls or cockpit temperature.

 

Positrons are similar to anti-matter, so in a sense it is not matter, but the opposite of matter. Beam sabers use an energy field encased in a magnetic field or sorts. The AT Field produced by Tabris was able to block almost anything, uncluding energy (unaffected by the battle between Unit 01 and Unit 02 to include the shock waves).
About the swimming thing...I believe they can. Though Unit 02 was basicly dead in the water, it was a result of being equipped with B-Type Equipment. Thus, it would appear they have a seperate set of armor for aquatic encounters (like D-Type for extreme environments). And Evas can fly. The MP Series (Unit 05 - Unit 13) fly in the move.
It's true Wing Gundam survived a dead-on blast from Libra, but did you see what it looked like after? There's no way it would stand a chance at a fight after a hit like that.

 

the production models use the dummy system, and judging from the fight between them and asuka, they're not nearly as fast as zero. yes, they can fly, but only as a bird can, and not very agile. ok, evas can swim, but it takes a seperate set of restraints...yes they are restraints, as explained in manga no.7 (or the episode when unit 01 gets an S^2 engine)

i'm not sure, but i think that gundam wing was still operational after the hit, as even one of the most sensative systems (communication) was still in working condition.
