Well, Yeah. But "strongest" means POWER doesn't it? Some have more POWER than others..Cloud would clearly beat...lets say Eiko 1on1 with Attack only, but hey..it all depends on the weapons.

Putting it that way, it'd by my Rikku. Why? Well, she has her Celestial Weapon, so she hits for 99,999 almost everytime. That, coupled with her 254 for speed, and an auto-hasted shield, AND Quick Hit, and most times, I get about 15 turns before anyone else.

It'd be Tidus, but...his speed is 255...so he can't be hasted, and it looks better when the character moves REALLY fast.

But, in all honesty, it can be anyone. However, I'd probably venture forth and say Umaro. He broke a WHOLE bunch of walls that you couldn't have broken down in the FFVI ending. Then again, Sabin DID hold a STEEL BEAM over his head... Those are the two greatest feats of strength I've seen in any FF. Oh, don't forget, Sabin DID hold up a HOUSE for TWO minutes. :)

Altough, Sephiroth DID pin a 50 ft long snake onto a 30 ft tall spike (tree whatever) (Always wondered how he did that one. He might be strong but that Snakes gotta be slimy! Wouldn't surprise me if he bribed the "Midgar FireDepartment" to lend him one of those FireExtinguisherCars they use. Good Job picturing Sephiroth with his huge masamune with a FireMan Helmet and a hose in his left hand. Tragic!) :D

Hehe, hey, it's cool. I mean, you should seriously see my Lulu. She knows EVERY spell in the game. ALL skills and specials. Has 255 for Magic, Magic Def, and...I think Def...and about 130 for speed...but CAN'T hit anything over 250. Her strength is still at 7. LOL.

Oh, and I *DID* use the Don Tonberry level up trick, and played so much that I opened up the whole sphere grid. Then, went and won a whole bunch of strength +4, hp +30, and all those other +stats spheres in the Species Creation fights in the arena. So, my stats are just horrendously high for my favorites. Tidus, Yuna, and Rikku. Hehe, it's pretty funny too, when you see Rikku doing 99,999 damage to one of those Defender Z's especially with the fact that they have to be "pierced" for maximum damage. :p Oh, forgot to mention in my previous post that Rikku also has 255 strength. :D

I'd have to say that the whole Sephiroth thing is not an action of power, but rather:

    A) Boredom
    B) Bragging (Oh, lookit me, I can impale a big-*** snake!)
    C) Lack of things to do (which technically ties into boredom)
    D) A lot of time on his hands

Though Izzy makes a good point, even though the only Sabin feat I've witnesses was the holding the house over his head. And just to be me, I'll, for amusement, say my favorite FF character (well, second favorite, first being Meliadoul): Zack. Zack can take all of you, and every character from every FF game. X_X

On a more serious note... I think it's really hard, and all a matter of opinion, though so far Izzy has made the most believable and presentable argument as he's included stats and the likes... but in an actual battle wise, I'm sure the strongest physical person, while attacking, could be Petrified (Broke, however you want to say it) by a mage-type character or something. ::shrugs:: If we were arguing weakest character, I could do that (Cough, Seymour, Cough).

Anyways, seeing as Izzy's argument is the most convincing, I'd have to say either Rikku or Sabin. Plus Rikku is another Godly character (number three on my list).

Also, Sephiroth is a veritable conduit of magic, so he could have simply casted an Earth based spell...if you wanna go into specifics. I mean, sure, he carries a REALLY big sword, but Cloud does too...but Sabin does the house thing.

Oh, and Sabin holds up the steel beam in the ending of FFVI, and holds up the house as one of the first characters to meet up with Celes again in the World of Ruin.

And, talk about Defense for the "Strongest" too. I mean, all Strength is nothing without being able to take a hit, right? In any case, it's a tie between Rikku and Tidus. Ultima/Meteor from a Behemoth/Behemoth King only takes off about 700 HP or something. But Meteor's total damage is something like...1500, since it's a multi-hit spell in FFX. And when fighting that Juggernaut or whatever the Species Creation is that looks like an Iron Giant...his counters only do...400. :D But, I believe the PAL release would have the stronger characters...since Ribbon is an actual ability for a weapon. Think about it...255 Def/Mag Def and immune to ALL status abnormalities!

And, thanks Ark...but to be honest, though I'm participating in this, it just sounds like a bragging match. :D

I think this is kind of a silly question, since it really depends on who you concentrated on raising stats the most. I would probably say that if all of the Final Fantasy characters got in a fight, in a one-on-one type situation, Kuja would probably beat everyone.

*****FF VII AND IX SPOILERS AHEAD*****

Why? Because he has the power to destroy an entire planet, which he DID DO in FF IX. Sephiroth is powerful, and one could argue that he tried to destroy the world, but he did that through summoning a giant meteor, not with his own magic like Kuja, and even then it took a LONG TIME for that meteor to fall.

    *****END SPOILERS*****

The strongest character I've ever made in a FF game is Cloud Strife, however. I beat Ruby Weapon with just him alone. Then again, FF VII was the only FF game that I've really "perfected," so that's not really saying much.

I think the player of any ff game is given the mix of characters s/he gets to balance the game out. Some characters (Aeris, Edea) have pretty paltry physical attacks even if you level them up and feed them plenty of strength, spirit and vitality sources (or their equivalent in other ff games), while other characters have excellent physical attacks and amazing vitality, but aren't very fast. I mean, I don't think its an accident that Selphie has a weaker physical attack than, say, Squall but she has the best limit break in the game (The End).

As far as developing characters goes, at the end of FFVII my strongest charas were Cloud (at level 99), Cid (level 93) and Yuffie (level... 90 something). All were pretty strong in most areas, too, because I'd picked them as the party to fight Sephiroth at the top of Disc 3 (spent forever leveling them up too ><;). Next time, I think I'll use Tifa and Vincent too, but now I'm just rambling.

Almost every FF has a trick to gain so many points even after reaching a maximum 99 levels. Or 100 as the case is in Final Fantasy VIII.

VI had the Espers. Yup, you heard me, the Espers. Those little "at level up........." at the bottom of the menu where you choose espers aren't there for nothing. They really work! I had my Sabin busting heads with his mythril claw for 4000 damage. Now, if you know what the mythril claw is, I think you'd be amazed. :p It's a weak weapon, found, I believe in the World of Balance. Oh, and it had a useful little combo known as Genji Glove->Offering. Equip this on a powerhouse, and you get 8 hits in one turn. :D

VII had the Sunken Gelnika. Actually, FFVI had the power/stat sources. But they were found in the Gelnika. Every baddy you fight in the main cargo hold of the ship actually carries one source or another. I remember the big pink one...the first unknown or whatever, had power sources. The thing is...these are HARD to get. I mean, you have to Morph them. And you know how Morph is...it's like 1/5 of a regular attack. And you have to KILL them with that move to get another Source. They also had the purple (I think) material that allows stat building.

VIII had the Junction system coupled with GF abilities. Cactuar had the most of these abilities. Like FFVI he had At Lvl up abilities, but you can put four of them at once. Also: Ultima, Quake, Triple, Double, Protect, Reflect, Pain, etc. can heighten stat attacks/def and personal stats. It's nuts when you figure a way to have really high stats.

I haven't nor will play IX. Why? Dunno.

X has the arena AND the sphere grid. The Species Creations (all of the Species Creations, actually) hold a sphere or two that will cause one stat rise or another for each time you beat them. Couple that with the BILLIONS of blank spots in the Grid (actually, somewhere roundabout of 250.) and your stats have the ability to sky rocket EVERYONE to 255 for every stat. Or even have 99,999 hp, if you wanna get rid of a lot of stuff...which I don't see the point too...other than you being able to stay alive longer when getting beat up.

So........in all those games, I had at least one character bulging at the seams. Sabin in VI was the strongest and third fastest in the game. Locke was the fastest and had the most defense, I believe. Oh, and I believe Edgar was the fourth fastest or something, and was a fair bit above average in terms of strength...but, he also DID have Offering->Genji Glove with Ragnarok (he SUCKS as an esper, and the Hero's Shield ALSO teaches Ultima...not that you need that spell...) and the Atma Weapon. Kefka's final form dies in ONE round from my parties. :sweat2: VII had my Cloud with 255 strength even WITH Knights of the Round strapped to him. Also 255 defense and whatever...Spirit, I believe. VIII had Rinoa and Squall virtually even, with Rinoa a bit weaker because Squall was levelling up with Cactuar while Rinoa had no +stat ups at level up GFs to play with like Squall. X...hehehe...it's not even funny how nutty strong they can get.

Like I've written, I've sorta cheated. I got enough items to make a sword for Tidus to have Overdrive->AP, then maybe double/triple AP or one of the other AP abilities for weapons then fight against one of the Tonberries...while his Overdrive is set on Stoic and the other two in the party is set to Comrade (they also must have Overdrive->AP weapons). Getting countered by the Tonberry hurts, so it helps if you have auto-pheonix. Let Tidus attack, so the Tonberry kills him...and revive him. You don't get any Overdrive guage, but when you either run or kill the turtle king...you get MASSIVE level gains. My AP weapons net me around 60 levels in one of those fights.

In any case, get all the Species in all the areas of the game (which I did only because I CAN'T leave any of the game unfinished...it feels...YUCKY.) and fight all of the Creations. Each one of them drops a sphere that raises stats. Like, I believe the first one drops speed spheres. So, those give you like...+4 speed if you use it on a blank spot on the Sphere Grid. Now, couple that with the Tonberry trick, and you don't have enough spheres to actually fill everything in! :D So, fight other baddies (weaker ones) to get more spheres to activate nodes, then fight the Creations agains to get more of the stat-raising spheres.

And, that is the key to having ultra-powerful FFX characters. Oh, and if you want to see something cool...make sure that Lulu is LOW strength. I mean, like mine. End of the game and her strength is negligible...at 7. 250 damage baby! And that's a critical hit! LOL. Anyway, fix up a blank doll and give it Deathstrike. It's hilarious when the dang little doll (was it a cactuar? wait, it might be a moogle for stat attacks, right?) does almost NO damage, but still ends up killing the baddie. :D

A nice way to level up in FFX is to equip one-element-ward (any would do, but i used Fire Ward), then you go into a battle and escape with everyone exept the guy you want to level and win the battle. Do this until you get the overdrive-mode Loner.
Then have the Overdrive-AP ability and fight for example a Fire Flan. Escape with all players exept the Loner-Guy and let the game run for some hours. When you eventually get bored and wn the match you will have gained up to 100.000 AP or more! (Can't remember exactly).

That's not very effective though, I mean, for those couple hours you'll still have to keep pressing the triangle button. Granted, you way nets a LOT of AP, but for the time/level ratio...tonberry levelling takes the cake. I like your idea though, I'd have never thought of it!

One thing you can do also, is to just get a empty four slot weapon, and add all the AP skills to it. (My Ascalon had Overdrive->AP, Triple AP, and Triple Overdrive.) I have the same setup equipped on Yuna and Rikku's AP weapons. So, when I fight a Tonberry, one fight, ten minutes, sixty levels. :D Even if you don't like the Tonberry trick, just use Warrior and start wailing on the baddies inside the Omega Ruins and you'll gain levels in 30 minutes that will take you from Tidus' area of the grid all the way down to Lulu's. :D

Oh, and I thought we were talking about PHYSICAL strength Odin. Seph uses magic, and maybe Kuja does as well, seeing the way you put it. However, I don't know...I've not and probably will NEVER play IX.

Just put a vase or something on the triangle button =)
Ofcourse. With those abilities you lvl up even faster !
Nice tip Izzy! Just that i have quite a while until my guys have 255 in strenght....so i use about 5-10 mins on the tonberries. But again, I never specialized in FFX. Didn't bother. I missed the classic world-map! =)
