Video Games Why do some people call the XBox a computer?

Solely because its made by Microsoft? Last time, I checked...Sony also made computers...



Well, newsflash, you see the box for EVERY major counsole? What does it say on the front...yeah, thats right: COMPUTER Entertainment System...Yeah, so, that would make all counsoles computers...right?

I've only seen Home Entertainment System on mine as well. Now, it's true that Nintendo enlisted the help of IBM to create the GameCube, but that goes under the category of "Sony also makes computers." The reason, I believe, that the XBox is called a computer by so many is that the operating system of the XBox is a computer operating system. All the designs are computer designs, and the parts are from computers. Last, but not least, the system can be hooked up through LAN connections to computers, which no other console can do to my knowledge.

 

The only thing I ever call the X Box is a piece of ****.The only thing semi-good about it is it's graphics processing abilities.Which still aren't that good. It could have been saved when it came down to it's games.But all the good games on X Box can be found on a better system.All X Box's exclusive titles are ****.Leave video games to people who actually know how to make them next time,assface.

 

The reason many peole call X-Box a compluter becasue that is what it was build on. It was build on NT Technology. That is why it is called a computer

 

people call it a computer because, among other things, you can run linux on it (either with a mod chip to let it load unsigned software, or by using a certain exploit and hoping MS hasn't patched it remotely already through xbox live)

This board is primarily an anime/manga board. And some people grew up playing the usual spiky-haired Japanese RPGs that plague most of today's consoles, solely because they are influenced by anime.

Ok...hmmm...

1. Do you actually own an XBox, or did you just play it for a little while when your mom took you to Toys'R'us to buy you some ****ing Yugi-oh cards?

2. Graphic Processing Abilities? Looks like someone's been smoking that California-Love -Insence. We all know that graphics dont matter. Look at great games like Lunar, sucky graphics, great gameplay,story,and characters. Besides, EVERYONE knows that the XBox has the best graphics. Not even the high elite of the PS2/Gamecube Fanboy Legions can dispute that. Look at games like DoA3,Wreckless, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Fable, have you seen those graphics? You guys know the snow-level from DoA 3? One of the developers said that the PS2 can process that level easily...but if it did, it would not have enough power to put in anything else....

3. All XBox games can be found on a better system? Ha,ha...boy....you know nothing....The XBox IS the best system in terms of technology...You have it the other way around. Lets look at GTA 3/Vice City for example...Better graphics on XBox, the ability to cruise to your own tunes is implemented, HDTV support...and a whole bunch of other new features...

4. All XBox's exclusives are crap?Hahahah...tell me young rabid Ps2/Gamecube *****...how many of these exlusives have you played? Have you played Fable, NinjaGaiden, True Fantasy Live, Halo 2, Sudeki, steel Battalion, Styeel Battalion 2, DoA Online, Doa Cronus, pr any other of the hundred exlusives? If so, please tell me howthey play...seeing as how they are'nt out yet...

5. The XBox is buggy...Ill admit it...Its given me some problems before...But, it is NO WHERE near how buggy my PS2 was. I had to replace the damn thing twice....

2. The title said nothing about hating XBox, it was asking why everyone considers it a computer. Yes, many of us hate it, and for good reason to us. If you don't think so, that's your own opinion. You are entitled to it, as long as it does not begin a flame war.

That's totally irrelevant to your argument. Anime/manga and video game are two different things. So what if this is a anime/manga board, doesn't mean we are influenced by them in games.

I am sure most people will agree that pc graphics can not be beaten no matter how good a console is. Graphics cards are made habitually and updating them isn't at all difficult.

Everyone has their own reasons for hating the Xbox, except for those who don't hate it

I hate it because PC game developers defect to Xbox and the game gets crappier as a result. Xbox is just not as powerful as a PC, so when a game gets developed for Xbox and PC, some sacrifices have to be made. Suck. (Halo *cough*) (Deus Ex 2 why oh why must it be developed for a console as well? Oh well, I am sure I will enjoy the newly dumbed down interface and removed game depth, as well as the cartoony engine)

I dislike the XBox because it is a console that is really a PC, which helps it lure PC game developers away with the promise of an easy transition to consoles and a console' larger market.

But how does it stack up against other consoles? Dunno, duncare. Only console I ever had (if it could be called that) was the Game Gear. I just don't like any of them. Millions disagree though
