I was watching slayers with my brother, and this big ogre, demon thingy (Sorry I'm not really a slayer fan) tells his entire plan to take over the world, only to be spoiled by the heroes. and the big demon thingy probably would have gotten away with it if he kept his mouth shut.

Okay so why the heck does anime baddies (or bad guys from movie reveal their major plan to destroy/take over the world, giving away the weak points to the heroes for?

Yeah you'll probably say if 'if they don't the hero/heroine will lose the battle, and die and the story would suck'

Well why not let the hero figure it out himself/herself, huh?

    The most likely reason is:

That all evil beings' brains have been somehow damaged in the process of them becoming evil making them spill the beans on all evil issue involving them from conquring the world to them peeing on the toilet seat!

There is also the fact the evil beings LOVE to gloat! If they don't gloat how will anyone know that THEY were the one's who thought of the plan and not someone else!

    It's an ego thing!

It's for us viewers. Face it, who can stand not knowing what those guys are really motivated by? I can't...

The enemy revelation is what seperates a good villan from a one-shot... A good motivation earns a higher respect...or something like that...

Because James Bond would have died about 50 billion times by now if they didn't.
Because as Knives pointed out bad guys love to gloat. (just check "Legato" in the "Missed Opputunity" thread.)

Not all of them do though.
Legato and Knives keep Vash guessing.

    Azrael doesn't finish explaining (DOGMA)

It's true! Villains need to gloat, or they don't see the hero get all worked up about the fate of the world.
