Naruto Why do you think Kakashi always hides his face?

    is it beacuse he is too pretty.. i heard that once naruto and somebody pulled a prank to try and unreveal kakashi's face... they didn't get a chance to see but the bartender at the raman shop saw it and instantly fall in love with him.. or maybe because he bares too much shame.. maybe for his best friend's death... or is it because his' face can be a weapon.....

    p.s. is it true that kakashi can't turn off his Sharingan so he has to cover it with the head protector

    I always assumed it had something to do with covering up his Sharingan ability. There's some stress involved since it's not really his own eye, and maybe he can't turn it off. I have to see the anime again to make sure when he revealed it, if it was already at Sharingan or not.

    I believe that's the chief reason he has his Konoha band over his eye. He really can't turn off the Sharingan, especially because it was surgically put in when the Sharingan was activated.

    You see him first use his Sharingan when Naruto and the others first fight Zabuza. When he pulls the head band out of the way of his right eye, the scar and his sharingan are readily apparent.

    As for his facial mask, I believe it's more of a ANBU thing. Although, he was still wearing it when he was training under the 4th Hokage. So, maybe he's hideously deformed in the area around his jaw? Or maybe, to him, it's just effective as a ninja to use it.

    Or maybe he just doesn't like to eat.

    None yet, I believe.

    But some people have drawn dojinshi, where his face looks pretty much like Mizuki's face without the mask, but with shorter/wilder hair.

    Mizuki == the bad guy in the first few episodes, trying to steal the sacred scroll.

    why do u think that kakashi always hides his face

    Well I've also wondered why Kakashi kept his face hidden. The possibilities are endless. However, I've gotten used to his face being hidden pretty early in the show. It really does make more mysterious than he already is.

    It's either an ANBU thing just like what Izzy said, or maybe he has a very ugly face? Or a face that is full of scars? After all, there was a huge scar on his left eye.

    And I just noticed that izzy ment the same by "hideously deformed".
    So I guess I pretty much didn't add anything new there :p

    remember the criminal interrogator who held the first genin test? his whole head was full of scars and holes. anyways. I don't believe Kakashi has a face like that. plus, another b.jp member stated Kakashi has that eye scar due to losing his eye and having it replaced with a new one... I didn't read the early manga chapters so I don't know. and, maybe since Kakashi lost loved ones, perhaps the mask was/is some physical symbol of resolve or mourning?

    Um...well I think it's probably something dealing with the Sharingan...He's too pretty? LOL! I think that might be a reason! It sounds like a good one too!

    i heard from somewhere that he hides his face because he's a special ninja or something and he has to cover up his face from other people... or at least his lips.

    i'm probably 100% wrong so you better not read what i write.

    if you haven't noticed most japanese things dealing with ninja's they have masks... Things like that I-Ninja game, Mortal Kombat, those weird japanese cartoons, movies like crouching tiger hidden dragon... they all wear masks to keep them from their identity... thats one of muy beleifs anywas my other is that he is wearing it for lost loves and all that you others said sacrs or depression.

    P.S. Zanza nice foamy avatar... he is my lord and master :D

    That'd make sense, only NONE of the other ninja wear masks. And you see Kakashi wake up to the day time with it still on. So, there must be something more than just him hiding his face.

    A mask sure helps with stealth and also muffles breathing, but, really...if Naruto can be a "sneaky" ninja...and he wears ORANGE, i'm sure something as small as a facemask will do little else.

    Though, it might be because he has really big buck teeth, which would be humorous to the ninja he fights against...and he would lose his cool points in the process....

    i'm sure kakashi won't take his mask off in front of people even if it's for free meal... the thing is kakashi's mysteries face and past is acturally one of the thing that acturally attract people to naruto

    Remember when he's sitting at the table of the bridge builder, for breakfast and dinner? I wondered at the time whether he ate at all (when he's with other people I mean), because you never see him touch the mask, if I remember correctly.

    Do we ever see Kakashi eat or drink? (I've only seen the first 25 episode of Naruto so far). If not, it may some clue that he's in fact badly scarred and does not want to take other people's appetite away. Seriously, that's a real concern badly deformed folks have. If so, it must be a skin or scar thing only: it's not like he could be missing half his lower jaw or anything, and his voice sounds normal - muffled, of course, but normal.
