So, why does it work and why does it explain the physical world as we see it?

Perhaps it is because we somehow resemble computers. Ones and zeroes all added together to form a purpuse. Or perhaps it reflects in who we are...ones added up together, and the symbols like + or - are what represent our change. Perhaps our destiny can be carved on a simple math equation.
Who knows why math works. It does. We would try to question it as we tried to question our destiny and we'd end up with the same answers. Perhaps, or perhaps i am wrong.

Because in this world, regardless of mathamatics or not there is values. Mathematics is just there to name those values. So lets say that someone who doesnt even know mathematics fills a cup. And another person who knows mathematics fills thier cup to the same amount. The only difference is that one person just knows the name of that value that person has just put in the cup. Though they accomplished the same feat.

    Ok...that was a bad example :p

    the usual dont ya think...?

    I agree with kaiyon.

Mathematics are really interesting. 0 means nothing but yet we give a 0 'sign' to represent there is nothing. And 1 to represent one thing or one object.

And yet, in certain topics of mathematics, 0 doesnt exist, but 1 only exists, example like binomial expression. (Sorry, i am not going to go into this, as i will end up teaching maths lesson here, those who knows it will know what i mean)

And in music, we have number notation for musical notes (A, B, C, G..) and rthymic beats ( 2 by 2 or 4 by 4)
Because we need something to respresent music.

And if you study ancient structures like i do currently, on roman ones, you will the number of gateways, arches, and columns (something that look like pillars) does play a part in putting a form or function of elegance.

In area like fabric or weaving, or sewing, the numbers are also interesting, they come in sequence(cross pattern, straight pattern or lope ones). That a sort of representation. When it is converted to paper forms, like books for us to understand, it is explained in maths.

And hence so, i can say anatomy is destiny, like an absolute term. If you know it, thats one, and you dun know it, thats zero. If you know what you dont know then it is like adding 0 behind 1, your deal gets bigger. And you dun know what you know, then it is like adding 1 behind 0.

As einstein says, if you can express in numbers, you got it. *winkz* Ah~destiny..

Somehow that sounds somewhat to what I said....with values simply having names.

    I mean if we were to say that 1=# and 2= & then wouldnt #+#= & ?

I stick to what I said....values have existed since the beginning expect we just gave it names.

Also another reason why mathematics works in my opinion. I believe that it is from an understanding in the world around us. The way we know that if the cup is getting filled we are adding the way we taking away we are subtracting and the way we are seperating we are dividing.

I suck at math...so i try not to get to explicit or else ill make an error somewhere ...

    Hi Vicious,

I nebber say we give representations of values now. In fact i agree with you that it started in the beginning, in ancient times.

Maybe computers a bit later then.. ;)

The mathmatics didn't make this world as it is. Mathmatics are the world in formulas.

He's saying that math is... well imagine a picture of a human digestive system. Now imagine a clear sheet laid over it, with the names of the organs. That's what math does; it gives us precise "boundaries" for things, in this case numbers.

It works because its logical, it has no opinions, just plain facts like 2+2=4.

Mathematics works because it is reality to be actualized. Reality consists of two basic states; these two states are the finite past and the infinite future, of which there are a finite amount of possibilities waiting to be actualized by the finite past. Mathematics is the realization of a possibility.

mathematic works because it's a bunch of old guys who think they know everything and they convinced all these people who actually have common sense to follow them in their lead to destroy young peoples brains. so now everyone believes them and we're all living a bunch of made up lies.

They were young once, and some were when they discovered their formulae.

    No, just math.

So you're saying it's common sense to destroy young minds?

Yeah, SCREW SCIENTIFIC FACT. All it's done is given us progress! How worthless!
