Inu-Yasha Why does Sesshy keep Rin around?

I want to know your thoughts about this. Why do you think that Sesshomaru keeps Rin around? hm?

 

I think he is lonely, thats why. Any company(even child's) is better than Jaken's. Jaken is just so boring and annoying. The thing that i cannot understand is why Sesshoumaru keeps Jaken around? ^_~

 

Sess keeps Rin around because he didn't understand why she smiled at him when he asked what happened to her. Well that is what I think. Jaken is loyal to Sess.

 

I think he also keeps her around because she continued to take care of him while he was injured and recovering, despite being injured herself and his (half-hearted) attempts to push her away. And then he found her dead, and brought her back with Tenseiga, and she followed him. I think he feels some sort of attachment, and maybe even small debt, to her.

 

yeah i think he warming up to a human because she did help him, and maybe it won't sit well with him knowing that she could be in danger.

 

I think he has a soft spot for humans that he doesn't want to fess up to. He's in denial of his good side. :anime:

 

I love Sesshoumaru and Rin. That has to be the most fascinating relationship of the anime. The couplings of Inu/Kag and Miro/San are pretty easy to understand, they like each other as bf/gf. But Sessh and Rin's relationship is different. It's a relationship of life for life and a debt owed, each to the other.

I wish they'd boil Jaken for frog legs though...

 

I think Sesshomaru keeps Rin around because he secretly loves her...not as a girlfriend...but has some feelings. I think he likes Jakken and Inu Yasha in that way also...he just doesn't want anyone to get close to him...Plus I read it on one of Inu Yasha's main sites that he secretly loves Rin, Jakken, and Inu Yasha. The site is awesome...it shows a profile of each main character....some might not be in yet though...

Sesshomaru probably isn't very used to people doing good turns for him, and something about the sweet, innocent girl who (in a way) saved him, intruiged (i know I spelt that wrong) him. He didn't mean for her to travel with them, she just kinda did, and he isn't going to kill something he saved. I think that as time goes by, he begins to actually love her. However, I think they have some sort of father/daughter relationship or maybe older bro/younger sis.

But no offense to those of you who love SessRin pairings: we need to have a little talk about age differences

uhmm..I have nothing to say..! All the things about why he keeps Rin around is already posted..! and I agree with Kagome's arrow! they are like brother and sister..! Some one had asked me that how will it be if she becomes his girlfriend!(a bad ide! Kagura is better to him..!^^)

 

He probably keeps her around for company and someone to take care of. A lot of people don't admit it, but they like to have people to watch over. And usually they're those strong, silent types. Like Sesshy!

em, little correction :sweat2: , its the girl who had feeling for sesshoumaru, not the other way around. and when she got killed sesshoumaru didnt seem very upset about it, he just walked away. :anger2:

 

I agree with Kagome's Arrow. Sesshoumaru and Rin represent a father/daughter or a brother/sister relationship. if they got together like a boyfriend and girlfriend type thing, then....ugh. I have faith that Sesshy isn't a pedophile and Rin doesn't really know about sexuality yet. and for those who support the Sesshy/Rin romantic pairing, then something is wrong with you, since that's just sickening.

personally, I think Sesshy does have a caring side that he is reluctant to show since he's got this big and bad reputation going on. it would make him seem weak to show his love for Rin, Jaken, or Inuyasha, so he doesn't let anyone know. if you pay attention to him, you can see that he does care about Inuyasha...especially in the later episodes of the t.v. series. and if he didn't care about Jaken, then I would assume he would either kill Jaken or something of the sort. same goes with Rin. I think Rin kind of helps him understand the good in life, since she's just an innocent child. she helps him discover that life isn't worth living if you have nobody to care for.

 

well, honestly.... i think sesshy's sword has a natural "vibe" for humans. So by him having that sword with him, it makes him want to protect/accompany Rin...either that or Sesshy is just another Michael Jackson =x

 

im not sure if this iz really true...

i heard that Shess becomes the gardian of the earth...i think this iz hard to believe because it's Shess! of all people why him?! if you have seen the ending of Deep Forest then you would know what i am talking about. at the end you see Shess floating around a planet...i think that iz earth and he iz watching over it. that's what i heard at least...

Well, insomnia and the fact that I leave my computer to eat messy foods (mm, pizza) convinced me to watch CN dubs tonight - and since it happened to be the Inuyasha ep with Rin's debut, I may as well toss my two yen in here while my memory's fresh.

I think Sesshoumaru's reasoning for keeping Rin around is twofold. First, as already stated, she must be a bit of a mystery to him - she tried to help him, she smiled at him, she even ignored her own injuries in order to continue visiting him. Clearly, he was intrigued enough by her that he chose to find out what had happened, when he realized she was in trouble.

Now, when he saved her - he justified it as "testing" the powers of his sword. I think he's fairly competant when it comes to his own weapon, even if he hasn't realized it's worth at that point in the story. I doubt he really needed to test the Tensaiga's abilities - more likely, that was a mere cover for saving Rin. Whether he did this in part out of gratitude for her attempts to help, because he was curious about her, or because the sword itself encouraged him to do it, who knows? It could be any combination of those.

However, Sesshoumaru does seem to have a soft spot for those weaker than himself. He treats Jaken roughly at times, but not cruelly. He doesn't go out of his way to inflict pain - unless Jaken's bugging him. XD Perhaps he tolerates both Jaken and Rin because both of them show devotion to him? It's feasible that he sees no reason to get rid of them, and therefore doesn't waste the energy. In fact, I think he's fond of both. Neither of them tries to use him or go behind his back - both are loyal. They're trusted.

And I disagree with the idea that there is ANYTHING romantic going on between Sesshoumaru and Rin. I don't remember offhand how old she is, but I know for a fact that Rumiko Takahashi isn't in the habit of including lolicon in her stories. Rin's far to young to have any inkling of sexual desires, and frankly, Sesshoumaru doesn't strike me as a pedophile. That would be no more logical than trying to argue that Kagome is molesting Shippo just because he ends up sitting in her lap sometimes. ;P
